Ever since I had some rear g-max shock absorbers fitted at halfords they make a right racket!
I have had g-max 40mm lowering springs on for ages when I was told my right rear standard shocker had gone, so I thought spend abit more and replace them with ones that matched my springs. Drove out of halfords after getting them fitted and they were making a knocking sorta noise. I got back on the phone to halfords and they booked me in for them replaced. Anyway had them replaced and they still make exact same noise!
It's driving me mad! They make the noise over the slightest bump, I thought it might be the bushes?
Anyone help???

It is the GMAX top mounts m8. I have them on my car did the same thing exactly.
Replace the GMAX mount with the original one of your old shocks and the noise will go away.

What do the top mounts look like? I got my old shocks back but I don't know what the hell a top mount is, are they easy to change over?
Cheers.

I got mine fitted at a garage m8. I drove it away clunking like mad at the back over any bump.
The mechanic is a m8 of mine so i took it back and we mucked about with it and like i said changed the mounts over. The mount is the bit on the very top of the shock, on the vaux one it is a big rubber bush with a metal plate either side. If u undo the bolt on the top of the shock it just slides off.
Just swap em over, hope this helps m8.

OK, do I have to take the shock absorber out to change this?
Sorry mate it's just I have had a look in the little compartment in the boot, where you can see a bolt, and I can only see a small rubber circle and the bolt. I looked on my old shock and this was sat on the top:
Is this the mount and can I just stick it on top without removing the shock?
Your help is very much appreciated mate! Anyone else help also?
Cheers.
