I seem to be running hot - I was running on a high load about 15 minutes ago but its been idling since then and seems to have settled at the following:

Mine runs at 38*C under load. But 61 is safe.

I'd worry at 70

if its an Athlon, particularly an older one based on .13micron, around 60 is acceptable. anything over 65 is getting a little too hot. 70 is time to shut down and sort a cooling solution

you can get motherboard monitoring programs from anywhere (try tucows.com).
Mine did come with the mobo.
I only installed it as i put a new CPU fan on, and i wanted it to tell me if the CPU was going to overheat (via an alarm) in case i didnt fit the Zalman correctly

Ive just taken the fan and heatsink out and cleaned it up and got the CPU temp down an extra 3'C did get the CPU temp down to 54'C though by just taking the side off my tower but now its sitting pretty at 59'C at Idle.

Ordered another fan/heatsink now. Was having difficulty getting a new one though because of how close my CPU is to the PSU - cant really go any bigger than 80mm x 80mm.
