right which sizes are best to use 38mm (gsxr 600 bodies) or 42mm (gsxr 750/1000 bodies) bearing in mine power is useless if its still riseing above the rev limit! so my thinking is 38mm more touque (better driveablity) and less power but not so high rpm. will rev no more that 7500 to 8000rpm
by the way on a x16xe project (gathering parts )

id say 42mm, most 16xe kits are either 40mm or 45mm (mine are 45mm)
38mm would be slightly small i'd say

read near the end, was going for 42mm, but read that and fort 38mm could be better, is your power still rising past 7500rpm?

why not use 42mm bodies but use longer trumpets to increase the torque

its pretty tight to fit 90mm trumpets isnt it? one thing i dont understand is why cant have curved trumpets? so they then face up towards the bonnet, would that be better

i have an FSE boost valve, and they are crap. im after a fixed rate unit, but they're more expense, which i dont need at the minute

Get a fixed rate Webber FPR. One off of a 2WD Sierra Cossie will fit apparently.

If you have problems with your FSE. You can get a pressure gauge for the FSE to make it easier to adjust too.

Unless you are intending to go for 190BHP, then 38mm will give much better midrange response over 42mm.
remeber Grp A WRC cars, run 300BHP of air though a single 34mm appeture. so no tliek flow till be an issue.
FSE valves, the diaphrams are known to fail. You can buy webber jobs for abotu £30, you dril out the plug and they are adjustbale. you leave the vac line disconnected with bodies aswell.

I would go for the 38mm ones. (i would actually just buy a proper set-up)
its the shape and length of the inlet that will make the most difference to where the engine makes the torque.
my trumpets are 90mm and im also using a 30mm stack so they are infact 120mm trumpets.

proper set it too much for me, think il go for the 38mm bodies (go cheaper than 42mm too )
bought a sbd inlet + fuel rail(for bodies) so will be atacting to that so 90mm to 120mm are best then?

dont use any....attach a 'viper' cold air feed to each throttlebody....
put 1 - under your front numperplate..
1 - in your n/s/f wheel arch
1 - in your o/s/r wheel arch
and the other inside the car.....

dave, what about filters, iv heard 'sock' filters rub power (cant see how)
http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Main.htm - normal filters, or NO filter? some people run with no filter iv noticed

Sock filters ruin the venturi effect (I think) you create when using trumpets. The best way of running TB's is either with no filter, or to seal the trumpets in an airbox with a single filter. You can buy off the shelf setups.

I was concerned about the filters I was using at the moment so when I went to get more mapping done at Noble Motorsport recently they did a power run with and without the filters. ther was no real difference in the 2 results.
this is the type im suing, only £15 from Rally design:
as long as you have plenty of clearance between the mouth of the trumpet and the inside of the filter you will be fine. I know single sock filters can sap power though.

i no its not related but are you running an up rated clutch? (guessing you are) or is the standard clutch able handle 160bhp? if it is il fuck mine up and get a new one parts warranty thats when i take the lightened fly out of currant car

Im using a sachs uprated clutch. pretty sure the standard one will cope anyway as its the torque that kills them rather than high bhp.

The power difference between a dome or sock filters is negliable. The air box set up only improves power if made correctly to act as a Hertz resonator and boosts torque, dependant on the volume you make relative to the cam timing, inlet length and so on. Most ppl just do it to keep noise down for trackdays.

whats the f13 box off, arent most corsa's fitted with f15's?
and also is the gm head gasket up for the job, or would you recommend a sdb one, dave?
