Replace the dials?
The dials are electric driven ones not cable

The one at the very back of the gearbox with 3 wires coming out of it?
What tools do i need to replace it? and where do the wire run to and how do they connect?
Thanks

yeah thats the one
unplug the plug from the sensor on the gearbox
remove the sender itself using an 8mm torx socket iirc, or there abouts... just 1 bolt holding it in place

Can you remove the cover around the base of the gear stick and get to it? Mine simply snaps out?
Further to that go the jack...

Yep, it is as far as I know, but I thought you could get to some of the wiring through there; just checked on my car; don't bother, go the jack mate...

yes, its likley. give them a clean, test the loom is fine with a multimeter (black is 12v+ ignition, brown is earth, red/blue should have continuity with the red/blue on the back of the clocks with the ignition on)

how would i do this? the loom on the back of the clocks has loads of wires the same?
I can even see where the wire goes from the vss. it looks like it just splits off to different parts. i.d alternator etc

Is it likely the part which sits in the gearbox could be the fault and not the top part (the white bit in the gearbox)
