called up because my upgrade is due and discount soon to expire...
this year i paid £70 for k800i and got 500min 500text 12 mnth contract for £20 a month...(which should be £35 for 02 500 alone + texts)
called back today as my £15 discount will apparently expire on 11th oct...
i asked them about the SE k850i and its not out till the 8th? so enquired about the Nokia N95
best deal she said she can offer is
Free phone 12 mnth contract, 500min 400 text £25 a mnth
is this a good enough deal? i think its a stonking deal, im just not sure whether i should choose this or wait till the k850i before i decide? ive just heard comments the the N95 is painfully slow, crashing, and low battery life and an old phone? what you guys think?

Yeah O2 told me it was 8th October for the K850i. They offered me some utterly ridiculous deals tho so I'm thinking about getting the same phone on Vodafone, seen a better deal in the paper today.
Shame too, been on O2 forever and never had a problem.

what gets me going is that they offer me a £15 discount per mnth on a tariff, now come to upgrade time, they wont give me a free phone because my monethly spend aint £35, so whats the point in offering discount when your going to re-coup it by charging more for the phone?
but personally i think the n95 deal is brilliant, not many onlinbe retailers can do the same deal on a 18mth contract, never mind a 12mnth contract.
any ideas whats the k850i is like? because the video on the k800i is very poor, mates N73 is much better...and its pretty low on functions/apps in comparison with the n95

N95 deal sounds good. It does so much more than the K850 & will be cheaper as it's been out longer
Plus you get a 1gb card with the N95
I'd go for that

N95 video quality is amazing & the video editor is just amazing
K850 is still the QVGA crappy one
Another reason to go for a 95

but ive seen that the vid quality on both are the same at 30fps, compared to my k800i of 15fps..im confused, quite like the look of the k850i, especially the coloured bits..but the n95 has way more apps but ive heard they are less reliable? depends on what the can do for me on the k850i
ive got a 14day cool off period apparantly so i get to change?

If there are software issues an update will solve this. Most new handsets have a newer software version.
The fps is the same, but the size of the picture is much better on the N95

Yes but not sure if you incur data charges
Tell them you want some data included in your plan free

Unless I'm reading it wrong they want to charge you £5 more a month and you will get 100 less texts than you do now?
Personally I wouldn't call that a great deal. As you've said the N95 is 6 months old now and due to be replaced soonish!?

It comes down to cost
An N95 costs more than what a K800 did. If you picked another phone you could probably get it for the same or cheaper

i rang up 2 weeks ago and they wanted to charge me over £100 for the n95, or free on 18mnth with a tariff of £35+
now its free on £25, only thing im worried about is the reliability of the phone and the fact that the 8gb version is out soon? whats the difference?

8gb version is more reliable, and the battery is alot better ( the normal n95 has shit battery life, and only lasts 2 days for me, using no apps!)
The n95 is an amazing phone, but is not reliable at all, unless youre getting it insured for like an extra £6 a month, i would maybee think twice about getting 1
Ive got 1 btw

n95 is toss. even nokia admit it is their worst handset ever.
phone to wait for is w960i.
k850i is nice, menu's are a bit poor, camera is very good, imo better than nightmare95

they said ihave a cool off period of 14 days? so if get the n95 then decide i dnt like it, can i exchange for a k850?
also why would i need insurance? i do have insurance but is it essential?
because if there is a fault surely o2 will fix it free of charge under warranty?

How is that better than a £25 contract with a free phone? Have you even read what they offered him

WTF O2 are doing my head in how did you get this deal
Currently paying £35 for 500 min and 500 txt on a 12 month contract, they wont budge on the price and now offering me a N95 with 400 min and 1000 texts for £30 a month.
I also qualified for £100 credit but even though the phone is free they say it uses up the discount. Been with O2 for 5 years now its a bloody pain in the ass :@

£100 credit is an alternative to having a handset though isn't it?
I got a sim card shaped letter through the post today from O2 advertising this. Either £100 credit or a new phone. Obviously if I call up for either there will be some kind of problem that prevents me from being able to get this
I plan to quote that deal when I do upgrade, if they can't do it then I'll be off

i had my previous deal of 500min 500txt for £20 cos i had to pay £70 for my k800i
come this time round u dnt know how i got a good deal lol, cos i rang up last week and it was similar to what they offered you....
but anyway i have the ladies extension number and told her to store it on the system...so i should be able to get the same deal
i did say to them whats the point in giving me a discount, if when i come to upgrade its going to cost me more?
so she said the best she can do it 500min amd no text for £25 a mnth..i was thinking is this going to be on 18mnth contract...then she said on a 12mnth contract! i had to make her repeat herself lol.....
then i said can you give me some texts, because the deal i have now has texts....and i use texts..so she put on 400

If you dont have insurance and the N95 breaks (which it might do)
Then 02 will fix it yes, BUT, they have to send it off to Nokia, as it is only under the 1 year manufacturers warrenty, and you will be without it for a week or 2!
BUT if you have insurance, then 02 will do a next day replacememnt service on it, where they will deliver a new handset to youre door free of charge, and take youre other handset back
Thats how it is on orange anyway

k850i is only free on 18mnth with £35 a mnth....no discount available...wtf is the point in being here for 5 yrs if im going to be treated the same as a new customer?
N95 has to be £30 a mnth on a 18mnth contract too
