say if i got some gsi carries and calipers and put it on to a corsa b which isnt a gsi would i then need to bleed the brakes?

Yes because every time you open a hydraulic brake pipe pipe you should bleed the brakes

you could always nip the flexi wiv a set ov mole grips not ideal like but it works

No it doesn't. You'd still need to bleed them through. Otherwise you'd have air in the lines.

Yeah, not ideal as in you end up with a caliper and half a brake line full of air. Which compresses more than brake fluid.....hence spongey brakes and lots of dodgyness.
Been there, done that, and it's a shit method to use. You can bleed the whole front system in about 10 mins anyway.

Doing that is bad for the hoses anyway. Do it properly first time and you won't have problems.

The only advantage is that the fluid won't drain out of the hoses as they are hanging, but, you can flatten the hoses, or tear them if they are old and buggered.
Personally, when replacing brakes I will let the fluid drain and then fill with fresh fluid fron unopened bottle and bleed through front and rears.
