Just been reading the haynes manual (anything to get out of revision :lol

It says that my car should have 27 psi in the front and 24 in the rear, that seems extremely low to me, as i like to run 30 front 28 rear.

I have 15/195/45 tyres on sxi's.

What wheels/tyres do you have and what psi in them?

Jez, Haynes recommends the pressures for standard tyres, with much higher profile tyres.

As I'm sure you'll agree, when you got those wheels from me the tyres were very evenly worn (if a little flat as they hadn't been used in a while )

I used to run them at 30 & 27 IIRC.

Yeah i know the values are for standard wheels, but should that not mean it should be lower? due to the smaller capacity. Think il stick with 30 and 28, grips well like that.

32 all round now.

Last time i got them changed there was a lot of wear on either side ie, low pressure. They were always at 30. So the tyre guy said try 32, which i have

tire pressures idealy should be the same as stated in the car manuel. You can have them slightly lower in order to get more grip out of them, but changing the size of the tire doesnt mean that the psi should should be changed. The psi is the pressure inside the tire, so even if the volume of the air in the tire is changed due to fitting wider or lower profile tires than standard, the same psi should be used. Only a change in the weight of the car should require the psi to be changed.
