Do you play these in manual transmission or automatic? What do you prefer?

I play GT5 with manual transmission. It's more challenging at first but it's amazing how much quicker it can make you if you shift at the right times. Changing down earlier can help braking too.

Manual as they don't change down quick enough for corners in automatice.

You can be automatic or manual in all the racing games I know of.

It's well known on most of them that manual makes you quicker, but you got to know the right times to do it

I used to play PGR4 on manual every now and again, you could pull away from someone in the same car that's on automatic, strange. I was shit when it came to tight cornering though

I prefer manual, more of a challenge and makes you think more.

Unless im feeling really lazy and stuff it on auto

But definately manual, I was always the one who went manual on the arcade games lol, shame they always have that gay catch up thing.

All racing games in Manual... Gives me more control, i.e. keeping it in the revs / downshifts can sometimes help turn in. Then finally stops the car doing annoying things mid bend i.e. changing up or down when I'm trying to balance throttle mid corner.

You're too involved with it, just hammer it round a corner and hope for the best

Manual in forza is tough, its good for engine breaking, but unlike GT5 it fucks your engine a bit every time

thats because people use engine braking in the wrong sence..

yes you use the gears to slow you down but not from 5th at full revs to 3rd then 2nd then corner.

in real life you use your brakes more than engine... your brakes are cheaper to replace.

I hate the way the brakes lock rediculously easy in Forza 2 on the pads.

Manual and all assists off apart from abs braking.
Traction control is abuse in video games.

Online games should have 2 servers to join, manual assists off and auto with assists.

Gt4 was good fun, without the assists its alot more involved and you control the vehicles better.
Traction control just makes you a crap player as you never learn to control the power yourself.

I can't understand that, I have yet to manage to stop for a corner whilst going at a reasonable pace.

I'm addicted to Forza at the moment, I might have a go at manual. I play against computer on hard but other than that I have traction control/ABS and braking line switched on.
