Apple are announcing the new features of the OS 3.0.
New Key Features include:
MMS
Copy and Paste
Its all still being announced Here.
There are other great developments, including a wider range of open source SDK for developers (including maps for turn by turn instructions).
I think this is going to really push the iphone forward and further dominate the market for them.

I can't help but laughing at them adding mms to a phone, in 2009, in the 3rd full model number of the OS

indeed. I think it should have been there from the start.
But personally, since having SwirlyMMS (the app that allows you to send MMS), I have only used it twice in nearly a year.

I rarely use MMS either tbh, just funny how they got away with releaseing a phone without things as simple as MMS or copy paste, yet it still being such a big hit.

I'm kind of with Bart, as much as it should have been there. I had SwirlyMMS and used it once.
It will be better having it though, no doubt about it.

"oh you have an ihphone... hows the MMS?"
"Great Thanks , hows your slow ass Nokia?"

Wont be long until it covers all the basics features of a regular phone.
Still, with all its missing features, iPhone is the nicest phone I've ever used.
Oh, and horisontal typing in all applications is my favourite update.
MMS wont be available to 1st gen iPhones... Will stick with Swirly then.

Don't forgot the copy and paste function.
Only company that can get away with hyping up MMS and Copy and Paste, makes me red with fury.
LIST OF FEATURES (NOT COMPLETE):
App and developer functionality
* Peer-to-peer connectivity over Bluetooth for gaming and other info-swapping.
* Paid apps will have the potential to be subscription fee-based, and can include optional paid content that can be bought from right inside the app.
* Developers can now build apps that call out to Google Maps, and can also finally bring Apple-blessed turn-by-turn to the phone.
* Devs can also connect with hardware accessories over in their apps now, such as a blood pressure monitor -- or perhaps a keyboard? Connectivity works through the dock connector or over Bluetooth.
* Long-promised push functionality will at last be included, but apps won't run in the background.
* Developers can add streaming video and audio to their apps, along with in-game voice use.
General functionality
* Cut, copy and paste. At last! You can shake the phone to undo and redo the action, and it works with both text and photos, allowing Mail to send multiple photos at a time. (more here)
* MMS, along with forward and delete for multiple messages. (more here)
* A2DP stereo Bluetooth.
* Unlocked Bluetooth functionality on 2G iPod touch. (more here)
* Spotlight has been added to a new home screen page to the left of existing pages, allowing for universal search on the phone. (more here)
* Tethering is built into 3.0, and Apple will work with carriers on that -- who will have the last say on its implementation, most likely.
* App Store will be available in 77 countries.
* Parental controls for TV shows, movies and App Store apps.
* Auto-login for WiFi hotspots.
Apple apps
* A new app called Voice Memos which lets you record notes and reminders.
* A revised Stocks app, with news stories and a landscape view.
* Landscape view available for Mail, Text and Notes.
* CalDAV support has been added to Calendar, along with subscriptions support in the .ics format.
* Apple's major apps have all been expanded with search functionality.
* Note syncing to Mac and PC.
* YouTube account support.
* Form auto-fill.
* Phishing protection.
* Shake the shuffle iPod playback.

When it's shown what they've added it's even more shocking they ever got away with it.
A media centric iPhone not have A2DP.

Since the first version! Just put a finger on a picture in Safari and hold it for a second or two.
Works the same way in Swirly.
I like how people are bashing the iPhone for its lack of features. The fact that it has become so popular with such a bad repertoire of functions should be more than enough proof that it has something else to offer besides the regular stuff.

Zactly
Now if they can just make it smaller ( a lot smaller, less wide wud be a start) and make it 60GB then I'll quite happily do away with my iPod and N95 8GB and purchase one
Oh, and they need to open it up to other networks too

TBH the main reason thats stopped me from getting one is the fact you can only get it on o2 officially. Just seems like they can name their price whereas if a couple of other networks had the iphone maybe it would be a bit more competitive?

It's apple that decides it's that price and comparing for instance storm tarrifs the monthly price wouldn't be any cheaper depending on network.

You need to bare in mind that whilst it cant do this out of the box, most users have downloaded seperate apps to do so, so to keep making comments like that is irrelevant
