not much to break John??? they are a revolutionary phone. as mentioned before on here its not what they do its how they do it. I really arent sure why so many people dislike iphones. I have had them since launch and just couldnt go back. Most new phones i see now ie blackberry storm, LG etc all are trying to be the iphone

They aren't revolutionary
They have just caught up with phones from 6 years ago, they were extremely well marketed as revolutionary though.

6 years ago, phones were crap with terrible features?i fail to see how its anything like a 6yr old phone?
the touchscreen/gestures arent revolutionary? the millions of new apps? the coverflow album art
i do know where your coming from but i could never agree at all. i love my iphone, not because of marketing but because it does what it does very well and looks the part

Features like MMS, forwarding texts, all available years ago.
Touchscreen phones have been about for years.
Wtf is this apps thing, symbian and windows mobile have massive developer communities, again years old, any app the iphone has has already been done elsewhere (barring stupid ones like pretending to drink a pint on your phone) coverflow isn't new either, windows mobile has similar interfaces.

MMS i agree was a little silly missing it off the first iphones, forwarding texts too but easily solved if jailbroken etc or available on the latest phones
touchscreen phones have been around for years i used to have many of them. and a stupid little stylus for most of them.were terrible to use looking back.
Also all the other phones I have had with apps available have been a nightmare to put on the phone.ie java apps etc
Yes most of these features have been around a while but not altogether on one device.
Most of the original Apple apps are brilliant e.g. Mail. I use it to reply to business emails all day long and it works very well.
Just of interest have you used an iphone for any lenght of time?
the apps are very good. I use one called touchlingua which is a language translator and again works perfect and i couldnt find any similar program available on a similar device when I got my iphone.

I wonder why phones4u have released the n97 on orange, when orange wont release it themselves yet due to the softwear "not agreeing with the orange system"

I've not used one apart from playing with one in a shop.
I'm not disputing they do what they do well, it's just the fact that apple have managed to market it as the best thing since sliced bread, and the whole world has bought into it.
If most other manufacturers put out a phone with so many missing features it would have been a massive failure.

i may point out at this minute i work in the phone industry and have had for 5years, the iphone is a lovely peice of kit, but it would seem most users think apple had actually invented the wheel.
They made an outdated phone, lacking core features of a normal PHONE and marketed it in a way that people are falling over themselves to say its the best thing in the world. Sure, they look fantastic and you get to conform down the pub. But they are not brilliant. Good yes, groundbreaking? No.
I would also like to add, that i can tell you that no matter what model of phone you purchased, nokia, samsung, iphone whatever.... Some of the ones sold will be faullty Its a mass produced electronical itme, utilising software. Every model of phone ive ever sold we have always had some back.
Clearly the N97 is dire in need of the 1st software update, but its still a cracking phone
Now enough iphone bashing/bumming

See my other thread
But its exactly what you said, the iPhone does nothing that a 4/5 year old phone doesnt do, it just does it right.

jacko Orange brand theiir phones and put their own software on them, they failed Oranges quality tests so they need to configure them better untill they pass. In 2 weeks aparently.
The phones from phones4u/carphone etc are Nokia unbranded aka generic ones.
Can you remove the battery now Kurt? Use a different sim card in? Vibration feedback on touch screen? Oh a proper camera? 30 frames per second video?
Didnt think so.
