Bought a new laptop recently and it came with some lightscribe dvd-rw drive. Iv used it to rip a few a cd's onto my pc. I came to try and burn a cd yesterday and my computer wont recognise the disk drive and says it isnt there.
Can anybody shed anylight before i ring up PC World about it.
Thanks, Luke x

Is it saying it's not there or is it saying you haven't inserted a disc when actually you have?
If it's the latter, I have that problem with the Lightscribe drive in my HP laptop and can tell you how to fix it.

It says there isn't a drive there. This is a Hp Compaq laptop if that helps.

Does it show up in Device Manager?
(go to http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windowsvista/f/opendmvista.htm if you're not sure where Device Manager is)

Click on Uninstall, then after you've followed the prompts right click on where it says "LUKE-PC" and then click on "Scan for hardware changes", has it managed to reinstall it?

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

Follow the instructions in this link:
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?board.id=Hardware&message.id=2344#M2344
I had the exact error as you (HP laptop, different DVD writer) and when I did what it said in that link it fixed it for me.
