Just being nosey really..........
How much do you currently have saved towards a house deposit, what is your target and when do you expect to reach it?
Saved : £20,000
Target : £25,000

Oh and that's good saving so far, you'll be at your target before you know it.

Not really, only whatever the car is worth if I decided to downgrade. I guess when I say deposit I really mean "money saved for buying somewhere" that you can pay for fees/furniture/appliances out of.
Must add that a quarter of that came to me as an inheritance when my grandad died when I was a kid, so not all my savings.

do you mind if I ask if you've had any help with that in terms of inheritance?

Saved: £250.
At my current rate of saving, it'll take me 8.3 years.

lol but I guess you've been working since 16? I've been at Uni so not had the chance really. I'm impressed - if everyone else was like you the world would be a better place!

I'm working now mate. And no, Uni was a fucking waste of time. If I had gone into employment after A-Levels I'd be much further down the line in terms of finances.

Saved £30k towards my house. £2k help when I turned 18 i think.
Misses did the same, although she had £15k help. So £60k FTB deposit in total. BOOM. Turned a couple of mortgage adviser's heads.
I left uni with £6k so I saved for 3 years getting another £24K together.
Willays post in the "disposable income" thread basically summed it up. Its not what you earn, its how you spend it. We're no hermits, I'm just not flash.
Sidenote: I owe my lifestyle now to my degree, well worth it. Lifes what you make of it at the end of the day.
