Driving along, noticed smoke, pulled over.

HUGE LEAK OF oil from under car, had to drive it about a mile to get safe. Had 6 litres of oil put through it in that time.

Engine, then cut out and does not start again, makes a noise to start turn over. Just sounds as if battery gone.

Now I've left car until tomorrow when can go get it, and am so worried, engines fucked. just spent 1k on a rebuild.

any ideas please

If it clicks and doesnt turn, chances are its had it

if it turns over very slowly/not much before stopping chances are your bottom end shells need doing

Get a battery pack on it and find out

Turn it over by hand or put some oil in

If its got no oil in and it cut out and wouldnt do anything after that then chances are its not great

if its had a new alternator chances are on its last legs before the alternator dying the battery went too ? due to not recieving proper charge if dropping below a certain voltage rendering the battery un-chargeable, but as said amount of oil sounds serious

Hang on, not only did you dump the entire contents of your sump, but you then thought it was sensible to spread a further 6 litres of the stuff over the next mile to get you home?

How extremely safe for other road users

This is very true, I honestly didn't think about other road users, I should of. I know. Was in such a panic tbh, was by thinking properly.
With regards to leak sump has big hole in it, so just removed that.

Slight update, put on battery booster to see how it turned over, it does but not perfectly. Obviously I stopped straight away.

Took sump baffle plate etc off, fresh metal filings inside baffle plate

Next step anyone?

If it's just a little bit of filings that could maybe be from the engine running in? Not dead clued up on that sort of shit though

Heres the pics of generations baffle plate.

These metal bits are not from normal running, they were very fresh, and very clean, newly shaved off, very soft metal it seemed, so im assuming its shells that have crapped themselves due to no oil.
