As above really. I've been looking at 3D tvs and have found a really good value LCD, or would LED be worth spending the money on? Its a 32 inch.

LEDs offer true blacks and whites and the colour vibrancy is superb. They are also super thin.
Speakers will be shite though so a soundbar at least is a must.

Does sound good, but perhaps not worth an extra £200? I'm used to an old crappy tv at the minute. Its £300 LCD vs £500 LED.

Was just out looking at my mini, don't think its going to fit in there lol.
My mate says he'll take me in 10 mins so have that amount of time to make up my mind. I'm liking the look of £200 at the min.

LED is LCD
Also, 9 times out of 10 the standard CCFL backlit LCD's offer superior picture quality over edge lit LED LCD's.

Random google picture so a bit of a generalisation but you get the idea unless you're spending £1000+ LED just marketing hype for thin TV that's 20% more £££ and not as good picture....top LED backlit, bottom, standard CCFL backlit:

LED is just the backlight behind the otherwise normal LCD screen. I guess it CAN make the contrast ratio higher but tbh it's just a gimmick.

I've had a couple of samsung and a Sony LCD and my mates Samsung led looks better, don't think it was much more expensive.
I'd get an led for wall mounting, can't you put a length of metal cable on the back and hang them like a picture frame?

Yes you can get the wire brackets for LED LCD TV's, given they are also much lighter.
My mates Samsung LED TV (£600 at the time) has terrible light bleed and uneven backlighting comapred to mine which is the equivilent £200 cheaper non-LED backlit model. But if you're into having a thin TV you can hang on a wire then whatever floats your boat. TBF you probably wouldn't notice unless you had something to compare it to.

I think we should setup a petition to convince Ian to create a sub forum for stuff like this.

I tried fitting the empty box in my mini when I got back for interest sake and it wouldn't fit due to the rollcage. Most impracticle car ever lol.

In the end I went for a £300 32" LCD. Really happy with it and through reading your comments it would seem there is a difference, but perhaps not worth the money. The difference between my old crappy TV and the LCD one is unbelievable, I doubt there difference between LCD and LED would be any where near as great.
Just discovered my PS3 hasn't got enough memory for the 3D update which can be used to play GT5 and some others so thats the next thing.
Thanks very much folks, appreciate the feedback.
