Currently on plusnet and its poo.
Edging towards Sky broadband as I read the small print and O2 actually limit your broadband speeds during peak times, this is not good for when I want to download 3D pron on my lunch hour.
The router is also better from Sky although it does not have USB inputs
Anybody have any experience of Sky broadband?
Going to do it through Quidco as well and get a nice bit of cash

Sky broadband has been great for the year I've had it, consistently good download speeds.
O2 do quite heavy traffic shaping afaik.

I'm with O2. No problems here, I only use it after 7pm and at weekends and it always seems to be fast.
I don't do much downloading though so probably wouldn't notice it as much as someone who does.

Did you not just get a new router, you can use that with (almost) any broadband you get anyway.

Yeh my mate lent me a netgear router that was free from orange broadband or something.
It would not connect to my TV at all even after all the settings on it etc..
I will go for sky and see how I get on. just requested MAC code from plusnet, gave me it straight away haha

With O2, if you've been using their broadband before traffic shaping was introduced then you won't have any bandwidth limitations. It's only new customers since then that have this.
We've had Sky broadband for nearly a year here and it's been fine.

Do any of you guys scan for local wifi networks to see what channel they are running on and then change it?
I used this to scan for all networks around our house

Not sure about that Sam, a mate has had it for years and he's always complaining about traffic shaping?

We had O2 before the traffic shaping and still had it when it was introduced, I can confirm there was definitely no traffic shaping on our connection at all, at any time.
Perhaps your mate renewed with a new pricing plan with them/got an offer for renewing (which will have meant him agreeing to their terms & conditions about the traffic shaping).

Ordered sky anyway.
Free cloud wifi as well. should be better than O2's free wifi you get when you buy iphones etc. PLOP

Getting virgin installed instead now

I only get 1.5mb atm no cable either! my exchange has started taking orders for fibre finally apparently, not that I can even order it through BT's own damn site Sky launching a fibre service in May I think?

Ah really? Shouldn't be long then, theyve put the cabinets etc in and the open reach site claims they're taking orders but can't find anyone taking them

There's no date for BT/Sky fibre here just "sometime in the future"

Gutted because the exchange at our old house is getting upgraded in September, whereas the one by us won't be until the end of 2013.

Isn't Sky's fibre just going to be like "their" ADSL? Uses BT's lines
