Seen that before, i would still use them. But jojo mama bebe (wtf) shop do a design that covers the holes and is rounded so kids cant get ahold of it and you need to use a coin to unlock it.

Why would you still use them?, did you not read one of the first things on thr website. They have shutters built in so you cant access the live and neutral.

Yes i read the website. I would still use them as i dont want things being jammed in the sockets full stop.

If you allow your kid to spend long enough to bypass a cover then you aren't watching them close enough.
Covers only stop your little one jamming something in a plug quickly.

Yes.
They have shutters for the bottom two that can be opened by the top one having something inserted into it? Correct?
So if some random toy has something that fits into the top hole, not only could it snap off in there, but it will also open the shutters on the bottom two holes?
Or am i missing something here? did you look at the onts i posted?

We still use them. They've been around for years.
The covers also act as a visual deterrant i.e. the kid sees its covered and thinks, sod it, no point trying to play with that.

If your child is smart enough to do all what you are saying, then why not give them a tool to help them on.

Smart enough? A toy dino or something with a long pointy tail made of hard plastic will go straight in there.
Its personal choice, as its been said before, they have been around for years and ive never heard of any kid turning them upside down? Most people ive spoken too daid once fitted the kids pay no attention to them anyway.

you can do that with a normal plug aswell, and like mantamark said, something small enough to poke in there will open it aswell. kids will be kids and will be interested in everything, if they want to get to a socket they will no matter what you put over it. ours is nearly 2 1/2 and has been able to take the plug covers off since he was around 18 months old. No matter what we try he still manages to take them off, only since we stopd using them really has he left the sockets alone as he has been taught that they are dangerous.

I'm a mature college student studying electrical engineering level 3. That website is complete bullshit. Most of the facts and regulations it quotes are genuine but...children inserting covers upside down? Once it's plugged in the correct way, a child is unable to remove it. The bottom left is the live contact, but still, what child has the patience and...skill to take a very flat socket cover off (more or less impossible), then insert it upside down???? Then put a skewer or pin in the live terminal. Very much a scare tactic and if anybody buys this bullshit, they shouuld have their IQ tested.

Trust me it's no where near impossible for a child to remove those covers. We have had pretty much every one available and my son manages to take them out, there only there for a deterrent really, and it's not hard for them to figure out how to turn them upside down and put them back in either.

I use them.
And I'm a Spark.
There's NO WAY our daughter could take them off or stick anything in whilst there in there, and as said if she does get enough time to do so then were not doing our job properley.
When you have children you should be making sure your home is as safe as possible including having an electrical inspection and making sure everything is at least RCD protected. I have RCBO's on every circuit just incase.
