Quite surprised there isn't a thread on here about it already?!
Officially announced tonight at 7pm GMT.
Looks like there could be possibly 2 versions like the iPhone - a plastic one and a metal one, and rumours are suggesting water resistance / proof.

Would have been a better idea to invest that money in polishing the OS rather than making a 'new' phone. Apple kick the arse out of Samsung when it comes to the look and feel of the OS.

Looks like the S4 had intercourse with a iPhone 3G.

Not much difference to the S4 - slightly 'squarer' and marginally taller.
It's certainly more of a 'refresh' phone with it mainly being hardware changes than design. Although why they decided to follow Apple with a wanky fingerprint scanner i've got no idea - no doubt it's just as 'secure'

Samsung Gear? They launched it a while back

Well personally I quite like the look of it
I smashed the screen on my S3 recently, bought an S4 to replace it (on eBay) which turned out to be a fake just bought another S3 today as a temporary measure, but will be looking to get an S5 now in a few months once prices come down a bit!

The gear 2 is supposedly meant to be announced too (thought I'd read today) is lighter, smaller and camera is now in the face of the watch. Also done a mini version apparently (from BBC website)

Good thing they made it bigger than the S4...
Glad to see other manufacturers than Sony has started to make waterproof high end phones. Hope this is a staying trend.

Overall it looks like a very Apple style update i.e. add a few features the competition has and add a couple others.
Looks like a fairly tidy package. Interested to know how splash proof it really is. I thought they might go for the full on waterproofing but I guess that's the Z1/Z2 main item.
Camera looks quite good on it. Like the HDR video although hopefully its realistic HDR and not the over-exposed stuff you often see how.
Fingerprint - mixed reviews of this so far. Seems it works quite well with two hands as you can swipe down easily but with a single hand its very hard as its got to be a perfect swipe.

Phone announced, release date price not revealed, as bad a Microsoft.
Like that's it's water resistant (not waterproof though).
Step backwards in terms of design.
4k video is impressive if I read that, 8gb taken up by the ROM

Not sure why you are slagging the gear, they've taken the criticism and addresses most of it quite comprehensively by the looks of it. Can't fault a company for listening to the customers and making changes to suit.

Innards and spec aside.. I swear I'd struggle to tell the difference between the last 4 Galaxys if they were lined up next to each other.
This looks chintzy as hell too

Because it's not a beta product

I know.
I'm not sticking up for the original, you are just about 6 months too late to be making comments on it.
Calling it crap originally would have been fine. Calling it crap now they've done something about it is a bit :S

I don't really understand why they've only made it compatible with a few of their Galaxy models. Why not do it properly and make it compatible with iOS etc? Or at the very least, Android in general like the Sony watch.
I can't see people buying a galaxy just because the watch works with it.. They'll just end up selling less watches.

I posted that before they announced they'd done anything about it.
Also, it's only now, 6 months later we can safely say it's been a flop.

Why would they make it compatible with iOS? It'd be like Apple making their watch (if it ever turns up) compatible with Android or Windows Phone's - just wouldn't happen
And Samsung are attempting to build their own ecosystem, they've moved a lot of API's away from Google as well as close sourcing their own apps, so i doubt they'll open up the necessary API's for the watch to anyone else.
