Anyway, it's going to be fully De-Catted this afternoon, found someone who will do the fabrication for me after lunch, so I've removed the original Cat from the car ready to go, and will keep the recently purchased one as the spare (It's got a lot less miles on it!)

Did notice that a rear tyre is worn down and showing some canvas on the inner edge again - just over a year since it happened last time. May need to get the rear cambers checked/adjusted at some point too...

Pics later on, maybe a video too if it sounds Ok before it's fully coked up.

If I get time tomorrow, I may also be painting the Rear diffuser in an Anthracite/Graphite colour... maybe.

All done.

New tyre fitted to the rear - stung with a hefty price, but as I'm using the car this weekend, I couldn't use Online ordering of a replacement like normal. Still, better to have spent a little more than risk a blowout or tug from the Police....

Also, now fully Decatted.

Fabrication place was done in 15 mins, and charged £30 - this included some flaring to bring the discharge bore up to the same as that of the removed section (He had Imperial sizes in stock, and the section on the Cat originally was Metric)

Went back on fairly easily too - removal of the original section was a bit of an effort (a VERY snug fit) and as the new section was matched in terms of dimensions, it was a bit tight to get back on. It did go though, just had to go about it a slightly different to how I would normally.

Been out in it (getting the Tyre) and it seems all good. Seems to be a bit more responsive and does sound different - seems to rasp a little at the top end, as well as pop on gear changes & crackle as the revs top out. Sounds quite good, and should improve over the next few weeks.

Removed;

Fabricated;

Fitted;

I'm going to be out and about tomorrow so will try to get some videos of it.

Boink.

Weather held out today (after some rather heavy showers overnight! Thought they may stop play today...) so got on with something I've been meaning to get done since last summer...

Got a couple of small runs in the Lacquer around the edges of a couple of 'fins', but not noticeable unless you get on the floor and look from underneath, so not fussed by that.

Subtle, but a bit of an improvement - that BMW Graphite is a NICE colour too... Still looking out for a BTCC/888 Rear Diffuser anyway in the long term.

Cheers

HATE the full size Front Plate though, so the recess is unlikely to ever look full again unless I sell the car!

Not worth the effort for such a minor aesthetic benefit...

Going to be making the Chrome parts into a 'Matt' finish by rubbing them all down with some Wire Wool soon
