Plastic iPhone looks like it's solely so they can make bigger margins.

5C was never meant to be a 'cheap' iPhone, the media made that up and now everyone's disappointed it's not cheap.
Yes John, I pointed out a couple of pages back, perhaps they're having problems with the yield rates on the sensor.
What's it meant to be then
A replacement for the iphone 5.

As I mentioned before, its more likely down to the huge Chinese market wanting a colour that doesn't mean misery and sadness.

Naa, that's the gold. If it was cheap and colourful then I would have agreed with the China thing, it's almost as expensive as a normal iPhone, they've just increased the normal one again.
China has lots of rich people now, but also lots of not so rich where a cheaper one would have sold.

so funky new chip, some camera improvements and a fingerprint sensor... anyone else a tad disappointed?
Why do people always say this? For starters that fingerprint sensor is bloody impressive technology; have you ever used any of the older generation attempts that some manufacturers put on laptops?
Typical 'it's not a flying car' comments, people are never happy. Fingerprint sensor alone blows everything else away. Even last years model is still ahead of everything else on the market today.
Surprised nobody else 'd at this!

I know only too well which is why I think the TouchID could be so good as I have an 8 char password on mine that changes every 90 days. The statement was in relation to all the 4 pin codes are really secure in comparison to the TouchID

O2 seem to be doing a pretty decent 4G promise scheme where if you bought an iphone 5 in a certain time window you can upgrade early. Need to read more into it though I think, hopefully the 5s will be part of the deal.

I'm guessing its part of the refresh program so you will still have to pay off the remaining amount you owe on the phone., essentially paying out your contract (although only covering the phone subsidy part of it)
edit: not quite - looks like they will just discount the rest of the contact by 25% so if you still have a year to go you will still need to pay off 9 months worth of rental to updrade

Yup it doesn't seem to be that much if a great deal. I can't see that many people who have 4/5+ months left on thier contract are going to buy out the majority of it. OK if you have 1/2 months then maybe you'll spend the money - that said other companies seem to let you upgrade for free 1/2 months ahead.

was just looking at the Apple shop to compare the 5 prices and it looks like they've killed off the 5?
Can only see 5s/5c/4S
Im thinking of buying one outright to stay out of contact, currently on simplicity with 500mb of data and paying around £20 a month.
But to buy the phone outright with o2, on a 2 year contact would cost you around £12 a month (going on the Iphone5 prices).
Tempted by this tbh

Said at the top of this page, the 5C is a replacement for the iPhone 5.
£20 a month on simplicity for 500mb of data, thats a lot. GiffGaff do unlimited for £12 and you're not even tied to a rolling contract.

Does Giffgaff piggy back off the o2 network?

Not sure on giffgaff, it talks about needing to top up if you run out of inclusive minutes, this isn't something I want to be messing around with.
Ive never used more than 500mb of data as im never far away from wifi, so I don't feel like im getting cheated for £20.
theres a lot more minutes included with o2 than giffgaff.

What's the minutes on O2? Giffgaff do 500 on the £10 bag with 1gb data.

Get them all on giff gaff. You'll get £5 credit for each one and you get unlimited gg-gg calls.

If you need all those minutes then fair enough, although Giffgaff gives you 1200, ultd texts and data for £20. Not sure I'd bother porting for £1 a month though.
Giffgaff have been faultless for me so far, goody bag renews just like a contract would, the only slight faff is not being able to use the iPhone voicemail and I had to change some settings to get Sky Go working.

impossible to do as most of them are on business contacts.
A one off £5 credit isn't that appealing, but unlimited GG-GG calls does sound great.
Think im going to stick with good ol trust o2, im happy with the greater minutes and never go over 500mb

I think Three are doing some of the best deals out there at the moment. Everyone I know who are on other networks are paying for texts and have capped data.

Plus I'll be upgraded to unlimited LTE when their network launches soon and zero cost - everyone else is charging for this.

gotta be honest, I put 'three' on par with AOL/Tiscali and other such providers - don't touch with a barge pole.
It may be unwarranted, but have never heard good stories about them.
