Im mining on average ~350.
Had some hiccups along the way, but everything has settled down now.

Yes thousands of DG's and 1 LT.
Why are you mining with your CPU and not GPU? Or are you using something special?

Nah. I'm only using a laptop. Don't know if I can even use the built in Intel gpu?

I just can't find any affordable way of mining. I wouldn't mind investing if it was a month turn around. But everything is a lot longer
Even bit fury ASIC miners. £150 return 2 dollars worth of alt coin a day! Shite.
What gpu r u using bart

My gpu in this laptop is wank. Its an intel hd4000.
I can get 14kh/s if I increase the intensity to 12 from 8.
My cpu mines at 28kh. Shocking.

pow.
Dan, Im using an ASUS HD 6950 2GB
Im also doing some CPU mining on the side and getting similar rates as you, but that's expected.
As you mentioned above, im keeping my eye out on those Antminer U1 kits, but don't particularly want to order one until someone has them in their hands. I might be tempted for around £60 to take the stress of my system and lower the power consumption.

Are you sure? A quick search says they'll work with cgminer?

They will. The newer versions of cgminer don't even support cpu/gpu mining. They have moved away from the script mining.
ASIC can only do bitcoin style mining.
The day they bring something dedicated like an ASIC for litecoin the difficulty will be ridiculous.

I did just find alpha technology have designed and are bringing out a scrypt miner that runs at 25mh/s. That's going to return around $500 worth of coins a day at current rates.
These wont be delivered until q2/3 of 2014. So by then, the difficulty will probably reduce that to $300 or so.
Once these are released, im sure all the big boys will buy them up and make mining them impossible for normal people.
I do wonder what will happen to the price once this happens. Surely coins will become hard as hell for normal people to get, so the price will rise as a result?

I haven't for about a week now, using wemineltc for litecoins.
I got my payouts no problem, but will steer clear in future thanks.

So would a Dell T5400 with 4gb of ram, a Xeon Dual core cpu and a nvidia quadro nvs 285 be any good for mining these days?

Its all about your gpu not memory or cpu AMD 79 series seem to have the best hash rate of around 700+

Hmm, wonder if I can put my new work server to work - Quad DecaCore - surely that would be able to put in some decent work? Bet it could recode my Film Library for me in a flash

As Kirx said, CPU and Memory has very little to do with it.
Unless your work server has a decent graphics card, you'll be wasting your time.
I have a decent AMD graphics card in my own work PC, might be an idea for me to leave it on over night from now on.
Will check when I get back to work on Monday.

Is it really that heavily weighted towards the Graphics chip. I knew they were optimised for certain types of work but didn't think they were quite so optimised

I've not got the figures here but even a 12 core xeon won't be as good as a middle range GPU, handle the type of work in completely different ways.
