i think you should try and get a set up of an early sport, or 16v sri, without power steering. otherwise it be a right fuckabout trying to get a belt that fits nice etc?

Thats what OJC has told me he has done. i really cant think of another solution, im no mechanic by a long way so all this with changing engine mounts is out of the question ....
Why is it going to be extremely difficult ? Because of the fact that the alternator turns ?

yeh if you can get the pulley off and the other one fits properly the 1.4 8v belt will be perfect...
trust me though ... non PAS setup will be miles easyer to do mate...

lower alternator mount from 1.4 16v without PAS or aircon, if ordering from vaux, have a squint at it on their screen first

the non pas system uses a tensioner instead of the PAS pump to tension the belt... i thoughr this was on the engine mount but according to mr sri-co there its on the bracket that holds the altenator to the the engine...

Yeah, im going to go to vaux in a bit, ive all ready got the non PAS tensioner and non PAS belt for a 95 1.4 16v but it didnt fit so didnt think i needed it but it turns out it seems like i just need the alternator mounting bracket for it,,,... then just leave where the PAS pump used to be alone i take it...

What the fcuk are you lot talking about, on my X16XE I have a 1.4 8v v-belt bottom pulley, and a 1.4 8v alternator with the v-belt pulley on, it lines up fine and runs fine.
Whats this about it not lining up? It lines up fine.

when i was converting from a 1.2 8v i tryed it... but i used the 1.2 8v altenator braket... this is why it didnt line up on mine...
rob also didnt know that if he used the method lee used on your car that he would have to change the altenator also...

my method was best, no tensioner at all
