look at the pansonic PWD7/8 - a model of screen that is about 1-2 years, so technology isnt as good as it is now. But all reviews will state that they offer some of the best colours going, ok refresh is a bit cack, even though ive watched a few decent flicks like Top Gun and didnt notice any problems what so ever (so i personally rule that out) and resoloution is below HD standards (but this is when HD was just talks).
even then, sub 1500 for an LCD is pushing it - and when do you get 42" LCDs cheaply
If you want a 42" screen, plasma is the way to go!

Depends what you mean by quality but either way you've obviously never seen a decent LCD.

not all plasmas last 60,000 hours, the average is about 30,000 hours and they will lose there brightness/colour as the hours clock up.
toss mate, most screens will average 50 to 60 thousands hours - though it all depends how much you watch the screen afterall! As for brightness/constrast - most of the time out of the box, the screens constrast/brightness settings will be maxed, so poor setup leads to a lot of problems is this area - but once you've set it up right (around 50% for both constrast/brightness) then they will easily last you enough time before it gets replace - its not as if your going to have it 15years down the line, especially with technology changing so quickly like it is!!
And dont say they suffer from burn in or leaking gas or any of the other rumours!
However, CRTs are they way to go, shame that HiDef CRTs are few and far between

Its a very good forum, lots of clued up guys on there & up to date news. There will probably be lots of posts about that tv your looking at. Looks good, if your not bothered about the built in Freeview id have a look at the LG I got as is got slightly better contrast rating & pixel reaction time & 1 extra connection. It has a connection to plug your PC into aswell

Forget both and go for a HD DLP rear projection , They are by far the best. Sagem HD D45 through tv drive blows all others away.

I'd buy the sonys atm.
The picture quality when i've compared them with others is just amazing.
You pay a premium though.
World cup will be broadcast to something like 400 london homes who are getting a HD freeview box.
This is a special trial though.
Should be able to get it with sky hd too.
