no, what happens is, you buy them from the shop, place them next to your pc base and then just hit enter. The game should just start playing.
Some new kind of wireless data transfer technology that's just been implemented.

Half the pc games I've played have been compressed on disc and need installing before you can actually play them.

Hence the point I was trying to make. You're all saying a good spec pc is better than the 360 et al but as a gaming machine they're a pain in the arse.

a half decent dual core Intel system with some decent SLi graphics TROUNCES the xbox360 when it comes to visual effects and playability.
HOLY CRAP!!!

I care not Dave.
With a 360 you put your game in and away you go. Main reason why i got one.
I was forever upgrading my PC pretty much every month in fact. You can get a 360 for the price of a top end graphics card which is just laughable really.
Also I think the 360 has a better selection of games for it.
And at the end of the day it doesn't really matter about the technical specs does it, it depends on what developers can get out of it. I'm sure you'll agree they're not doing too bad a job so far... look at games like Oblivion and Gears of War.

I disagree, my AMD based 2.4Ghz, 2GB RAM, 256MB Graphics doesnt look any better than my 360.

I have no doubt that you could build a monster pc that on paper would blow the 360 (and PS3 for that matter) out of the water.
The fact remains though that a) you would need to spend more than £300 (the costs of a console) to do that and b) this has been the case for quite a while now
PC's have always been more powerful on paper yet the better games will always come out on consoles imo. They're both different types of games machine.
I used to have a PC and in the end swapped it for a laptop and purchased a 360. Best thing I ever did. I can now sit in my living room on the laptop instead of being stuck away in a room somewhere.

topshot, thats hardly groundbreaking is it
im talking true dual core E6700/Extreme/QX6700 whatever, coupled with two 7800GTX's in SLi (peanuts now) or full whammy 8800GTX's in SLi, will pretty much sort you out for years to come. trust me Dave, xbox360 isnt really scratching the surface. you just wait until DX10 compatible games hit the shelves. we should be seeing pretty much life-like representation in graphics. just look at the HDI images for DirectX10 enabled flight sim X:
expect Precomputed Radiance Transfer to start showing up in PC games. this is stuff taken from the movie industry and implemented into DX10

Nope but its cost less than 300quid. Comparing a £1500 gaming rig to a 360 is like comparing a ferrari to a corsa

yeah wow, looks great.
Show me some games that are out now though that look like that running on your computer Dave.
Imo Fight Night Round 3 isn't far off from what the bottom picture looks like. Realistic skin texture and lighting etc...

dave it was a quote of cybermonkey, not me. I was stating you cant compare a £1500 machine to a £300 one. Plus the 360 doesnt even use half its potential yet
