I might give this a shot. FREE MONEY!!!
Do you have to close your account with them afterwards? Or can you leave it open?

The bank might say they are going to close your account, think they advise to have another account open somewhere else just incase.
I just got my statements through today, i'm owed around 600notes.
They have sent me all the charges including the amount i pay for my bank account which is 15quid a month, i dont include these to what im owed surely??
Just charges for unpaid direct debits/overdrawn etc.......??

So if I ring them up now, can I request they send me out my statements from when I took the account out back in 2000? Because when I was a teenager my finances were a mess and was always getting charged and could be worth twice of what I've already got.
You can only go back 6 years so until april 2001

Just been watching the news and they also pay out the intrest you've lost.
Anyone had any success yet, wondering how long it takes to actually get the money from sending the letter off to tell them how much they owe you......

As he doesn't seem to be replying to you Pablo
I've requested the past 6 years of statements from Halifax. Had to write them a letter about the data disclosure act etc. and pay £10 but you can claim back the £10 when you claim the charges

i just put a claim in last week for £2900 plus about £500 interest. got a letter on saturday saying they are investigating the claim. I gave them 14 days from the date of the letter before i issue court proceedings.
also i am under the pretence that under the banking code, a bank has to try every effort to ensure it doesnt put you in financial jeapordy. so if they try to close your account this is a breach of the code so you can argue to keep it open
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

legally they shouldn't close your account the same as they shouldn't charge you but the chances are if they don't close your account a note will be added to say how bad a customer you are

Yes i requested my bank statements initially but on the phone the bloke asked if it was to do with bank charges...........i said yes.
They didnt send me full statements, just a list of bank charges.
How do you go about working out the interest, does it vary each year?

So to start if off, you have to ring and ask for your bank statements then where do you go from there?
