Remember that the TV part of the N96 is not going to work in the UK for quite some time.

I thought the N96 was going to be much better but it looks like its just a 'refined' N95 with a few changes. The extra storage being the major one.

As for browsing the web - there are some new phones coming out that will be interesting - Sony Xperia X1 - it has a tru 800x480 screen. That will show quite a few sites without having to scroll too much. Combined with the new iPhone like browsers coming out its going to be fairly impressive.

So far no UK Operator has announced they are going to actually support it. There were many reports a few years ago about it but none of them have actually stated they will support it

From what i gather, the N96 will only support DVB-H (Yet to find anything to suggest it supports anything other) which is great if you're living in Europe. Problem is, Qualcomm, who owns the format MediaFlo (what's being used in the states), has bought a huge chunk of the spectrum over here and if they're setting up MediaFlo here, then it's very unlikely that any network will spend huge amounts of cash creating a DVB-H (or similar) network when they can save cash and just use MediaFlo.

So the N96 is already Fubar'd in that sense, making it just a glorified N95 as the marketing feature of the N96 won't work here.

Yeah, but doesn't that stream video to the phone using a data connection? I don't remember remember us having a mobile tv network that actually broadcasts to the phone, as from what i gather none of the network could agree on a single standard and it would be pointless for them all to release different networks (i could be very wrong though).

Yeah, i think it just streams video to the phone, like watching tv on the internet.
Whereas DVB-H/MediaFlo (+other standards) are standards for video to be transmitted to the phone via masts (ie: similar to freeview but different compression and lower resolutions for phones etc).

When is the N96 getting released anyways?

With almost a 1/3 of all iPhones being unlocks I don't think it matters too much who is 'officially' selling the phone on their network
