Idle control valve is on the top at the back mate, just in front of the circle plastic thing with three screws in that the air box goes to.

If you read my post properly then you will realize that I meant the person who started this thread has a problem with an SPI engine.

Well done for managing to use the quote button though.

now i done it ive got a nice roar on acceleration and i reset the ECU...
altough ive had a problem with it idling quite high around the 1 mark?? could this be the idle control valve.. if so were can i find it?? its a 1.2 8v SPI thanks

they do idle different after doing this mod.. mine wen from 750rpm(ish) to 850rpm(ish) yours ticking over at 1k is most probably still on cold start as mine does this on cld start.. should come down soon.. ive had mie done for around a year now and tbh thre isnt any diference between puting a cone filter on to just having this baring the cone filter gets terrible heat soak.. and this doesnt.

I wouldn't say it was the same type of noise or as noisey as a cone filter imo.
Depends how you do it though, I have 4 holes, about the size of a 10p coin in the bottom of the airbox, taken all the restrictor pipes out, now taken off the bottom bit that we're talking about and I have no cold air feed. I also have a Courtney Sport panel filter. Personally, I wouldn't say it sounded as good as a cone filter but this is a safer way of doing it, espc. since mine is only a 12v and bloody slow already!

I have also noticed a very slight difference in throttle response which is nice

I took mine out earlier, revved the fuck outta it from cold (its 0 degrees here) and ended up wrecking a spark plug and almost trashing the engine! Oops! Forgetting how cold it is right now!

0-60 - forget 19 seconds, it would be more like 19 minutes Although it feels like that when you have three anyway

@shaunmods, bet you cant remember what my car sounded like when you picked up those sport rims, my airbox is drilled with lots of holes.

Anyone near me that wants to swap a standard box for my drilled one or just to try it is welcome.

Thats what Vauxhall might say but I'm sure its quicker than that or at least mine feels like it, not much faster maybe about 15 - 16 secs.
