htc magic is the google one isnnt it?
It is yeah.
I was expecting alot from the N97 but it just didn't deliver. It uses a very similar UI to the 5800 music phone which I don't like.
The actual physical phone though is very impressive! Nice design and build quality

impressions after 2 hours...
BBC iPlay is slick but took a few goes to get it to connect over wifi as it kept trying 3G
Hotmail would not add as a mailbox from Messgaes, was only creating a link in Internet bookmarks, but used the email wizzard and it set up fine
Got my pop3 account working too and on my homepage, something my N95 needed to do after my e90 did it and I loved it. Also push email can be set to 5 minutes instead of 30 like on the n95
screen is nice, dont like the D pad on the left hand side and spacebar on the right
charging over USB - nice idea, my o2 XDA did this and its very handy
Keyboard is cool to write on, not found a touch qwerty keyboard yet, only the 1-9 traditional one
What widgets is everyone using? any eBay ones going free?

Got mine yesterday. £55 unlimited everything (texts, calls, internet) and insurance too. So far so good. Took a while to figure it out but it's great fun and the customizing is ace. Lets see how it stands up to the test of roofing though!

The touch screen pisses me off on the N97, its a resistive type touch screen so ideally should be used with a stylus (so you have to stab at it with your finger) and it also blurs the image due to the tiny tiny conductive wires in side the screen unlike the screen on the iPhone/HTC Magic etc. which is a capacitive touch screen which feels really natural to use.
You can be really gentle with the capacitive screens and it still can detect the touch but the resitive screens have to be proded really hard!

touch screen works perfectly, it has vibration feedback so its tactile.
the phone comes with a stylus too?
in the cold the iphones wont work, the n97 will, you could always open it up and use the real qwerty which works well.
you dont need to be heavy handed at all with the touchscreen eiither, have you actually used one?!

Yep my mate just paid around £500 to get one off contract, nutter! I was playing with it for about an hour.. The OS is completely different to the older N series too so it takes a while to learn where things are.
I think the HTC Magic blows the iPhone and the N97 out of the water, I wish I had never bothered getting an iPhone and waited for the Magic

Android is going to explode over the next 12 months. There is already an app store but its tiny atm. Developers are starting to port all their stuff over to Andorid from Apple as well as they know the market is going to grow.
Its going to be an interesting time in phones now. The iPhone is really getting some competition
I personally cant wait to pick up a Magic. I am waiting to find one second hand for sale so I can go on SIMplicity from O2 for a while. That way I can jump on a new phone asap when I see one I really like

I am debating getting an E71 right now sim free for £249.99.
Want a qwerty keypad type phone.
I have an E71.
It’s a good little phone, full of features, and once you get used to the Qwerty keypad, texting is becomes easy.
However, it’s been out for a while, and if you are getting a new phone, and you want the E71, I would think about getting the newer version, E75.
It’s just like the N97, but without the touch screen.
I have bought it sim free so the E75 would be ridiculously expensive. Also I don't like the idea of the slide keyboard on the E75.
