It is unlikely you'll ever get pulled up on compliance problems like this, but remember that many plastic items come with a date stamp to indicate their age since manufacture which would certainly give away who put the boxes in.
A good electrician will be able to estimate the age of components on inspection to within 5 years or so as well.
The only time you might have a problem though is if you move out and some of your wiring catches fire and burns the house down (in which case your junction boxes are most certainly molten).

Sorry for the lack of update, just got back today from 2 weeks out in Turkey.
There has been progress on the house but not enough time for pics before we left.
Most of the rooms are now painted and waiting for carpets to be fitted. I need to run the cables for the surround sound before the carpet goes down.
Will get pics up of the painting in the next couple of days.

Ok here are the updated pics as promised. Sorry for the delay but it was a bit hectic tieing up loose ends before we went away on holiday.
Most of the house was skimmed as shown in previous pics. Next up was coving in the living room and the 3 bedrooms.
We then had to paint all the ceilings and walls with a 70/30 paint/water mix for the first coat on the newly skimmed surfaces.
Here is the 3rd bedroom with one coat on the walls and the ceiling/coving completed in brilliant white...
It'll be getting painted a sky blueish colour once we have found some curtains and bedding that match.
Bedroom 2 was painted brilliant white on the ceiling and magnolia on the walls...
The hallway was treated to the same combination...
To be honest the landing, stairs and living room were the same. We have painted one wall in the living room a colour called Muddy Puddle which should go well with the oak furniture that we have...
All the skirting boards, radiators, door frames and window sills were glossed.
There should be lots more progress in the very near future. In the next couple of weeks the plans are to...
- Run the surround sound cables before we have carpet fitted
- Have carpet fitted throughout most of the house
- Get the sofas delivered
- Build lots of furniture
- Set up TV + other components
- Sit down and enjoy

Yeah it is, as far as we know it was laid when the house was first built.

Ok time for another update, it's a bit of a teaser really. We have done a fair bit more than the pics will show but our TV won't be delivered till next Saturday. In the last week we have had carpets fitted, sofas delivered and I have spent most of the weekend building furniture.
Here are pics of the house now carpeted...
Bedroom 1
Bedroom 2
Landing taken from the bathroom
Stairs and understairs cupboard
Entrance hall
Living room
There will be a much larger update next weekend once the TV is all set up and I've taken pics. It's really coming together now and has been well worth the effort.

Looking good, personally would not have removed trees (unless they blocked sunlight?). Interesting thread.

Well it's now finally coming together and we have something inside that resembles a house. The first luxury was having carpets back under our feet Not long after, the sofas arrived and I got round to building the furniture.
All the rooms are laid out more or less how they will stay. They are looking a bit bare at the moment but we have a lot of stuff still to move in and we have plenty of finishing off items, for example lamps, to buy and put around the place. From the pics you will notice a lack of doors, they need to be sorted but the kitchen needs decorating first.
Bedroom 1 - It's good to now be back on a matress rather than on an air bed!
Conservatory - Very basic at the moment but we now have the dining table and chairs built.
If we need to cater for lots we can seat 8 round it.
AV setup - We like to watch films more than TV so we decided to go for a surround sound setup. It is so much better than I thought it could ever be
Spec...
Sony 40" LCD 1080p 100hz (KDL-40W5710)
Sony BDP-S363 Blu-ray Palyer
Sony RDR-HXD790 DVD Recorder
Sony HT-SF100 5.1 Surround Sound System
Sony PS2 (Still got some games to complete)
Nintendo Wii
Lounge - We have gone for 2 and 3 seater sofas which are really comfy. It is so good to now have something to sit and relax on. The sideboard and other units will mainly be used for storage.

Good decision on taking those conifers down, they are too big to be that close to the house, the roots will have been getting near your foundations!

Well it's been a while since I last updated this so here's a few more pics of progress.
Bedroom 2...
We need to get the proper bedding sorted and some curtains sorted out, we are also on the hunt for a new main light fitting.
Bedroom 3...
Since the last update there has been a carpet fitted and I have painted the walls. We have also built all the furniture as you will be able to see below.
Even though we are rapidly heading towards Christmas there is a lot happening in the coming weeks...
1. Our curtains were delivered during the week, just need to fit the poles and hang them.
2. We have 11 internal doors which need to be hung and have the handles and latches fitted.
3. During the coming week we are having the new kitchen floor fitted, this means we can put in the cooker, dishwasher and firdge freezer. We'll also plumb in the washing machine and tumble dryer.
I'll post more pics as we make further headway with it all.

Not updated this for a while. We've now got curtains up which is good. One door is fitted, ten still to go
We've been working on the garden. Lots of hard work has gone in and it's starting to look better. Recent sunny weather has also scorched the grass/moss lawn that we have
Membrane and bark laid dow to the right of the concrete path, so far it's stopping the weeds growing back...
The area that was under the trees has all been weeded, turned over, raked level and grass seeds sown...
Test patch starting to grow...
The veggie patch. Currently has courgette, potatos and carrots planted, there's also lettuce, peppers and onions in other pots waiting to go in...
We need to hire a skip to throw this lot in. We are also going to level it off and grass seed it...
The trampoline is quite entertaining too...
