Mine was being stupid the other morning when it was very foggy and damp.
It was acting much the same.
We checked everything and got nowhere.
In the end we jump started it but it was more a case of foot on the throttle and hold the ignition on for bloody ages which I didnt think was the best idea but my dad sed just do it anyway, you could hear it wanting to go. Then all of a sudden it did.
Have you tried this rather crude method.
I thought it would flood the engine but obviously not.

Yeah I had to do exactly the same!
jay mate I am only guessin about the water up the grill when I was washin it (even though I cant see how I would have done that! LOL) cause there was no real reason how it got there for me either so i think it could be damp, i just left it for a while and then as I said turned it over and over for a while! Even though my car injection I had floor it to get it to start! Maybe it is just damp asu eu not used it for afew days?

We are talking a good 2 minutes plus of turning over and spluttering before mine finally started.
Just out of curiosity, Could you have put Steves old engine into your car?
Would it of fit into a Nova?
What did he do with it cos it had only done about 100 miles.

are, there was another thing, my engine management light was on the other week, but only came on for a few mins then went off nearly every day, then it would come back on? also my petrol gauge has broken, it goes all the way off the clock when first started then goes down in the red,but i know there is petrol in there because it was filled with ten pounds the last time i used it.

If the Engine Management light come on randomly can't you take it to a vauxhall garage and they get some kind of reading off of the ECU to tell you what it believes the fault is.

yeah could be a good idea but he gotta get it started first! if it turns out to be just damp I wouldnt bover cause EM lights r known to flash on and off sometimes for unknown reasons on some cars (i only talkin a few seconds here) when there not really a rpob. I would only worry about it if it stays on and starts flashin on and off regularly or when u do somethin (ie only comes on when ya floor it! LOL) but if u cant get ya car started it may be worth gettin fault code read cause the fault may be what stoppin it starting!

Just checked my Haynes manual. And you can do that. I would do that as a last resort though. Probably cost 50 quid and tell you jack shit

Yeah it is about 50 quid at vaux i'd try find a private garage that does it cheaper, but they need special equipement! or u can do it yourself theres a site that tells ya wat the fault codes mean and how to read em heres the link:
http://www.knighta.f9.co.uk/info/fault_codes/fault_codes.htm
