What am I missing here that makes iTunes so bad?
I plug my iPhone in to my laptop and it syncs with iTunes to get my latest music on to it then unplug. Seems pretty simple to me?

people have read on the internet that iTunes is shit, so they tell others.

Only thing that pee's me off is the time taken to download updates but I think that could be the speed of my internet as its slow to download updates for my PS3 too.

You won't even need iTunes with iOS5 and ota firmware updates will only be the things that have changed meaning much smaller file sizes.

Agreed.
TBH though anything that fucks about with your music by creating libraries etc I don't like so it's not just iTunes. I tend to stick with the more lightweight players.

iTunes is a dreadful program. I've not bothered installing quicktime and all that rubbish since i upgraded to windows 7 and just got a codec pack so i can use wmp for everything instead.
I voted android in the poll.

It is deliberately obtuse, like most Apple products.
Hard to use, fucks up everything to do with your music, is slow as a week in the jail to do anything, is trying to look as if you are using a Mac when if you wanted that particular treat you would have bought one (for 15 grand), clunky as fuck and with a completely illogical interface.
And that is from someone that doesn't even have an iPod and has just been asked to transfer music for a relative

My PC runs it fine, its not slow. Its easy to use (thats the point?!) It looks great and is logical?!
The only downside to it is the sorting sometimes can be confusing. but a 30second google and problem was fixed. I really dont understand why people dont like it. I used it before i had an iPhone or iPad and i dont want a Mac but i think its a great programme!

It's the whole way of doing things.
Want to transfer music to anything else, plug it in, drag and drop.
Want to transfer music to an iPod, especially if it's someone else's using your iTunes, you need to spend an hour working out if it'll wipe your music, the iPod, or both.

Voted Android, Have an android and I have no reason to complain.
The windows/apple/unix debate will go on forever, and tbh I can't be arsed to get involved. I've seen far too many intelligent people turn into argumentative idiots during that debate.
Regarding iTunes, I can understand why people have issues with it. By searching on google for iTunes Problem or similar variation's there of, it returns 111,000,000 results. A lot of website offer fixes to common faults, however standard plebs don't want to sit searching google for ways to fix their computer.
iTunes is user friendly, its just very selective over who its friends with.
And from personal experience I've had iTunes kill my iPod and iPhones countless times during firmware upgrades because, although my computer easily matches the minimum requirements, it has a habit of keeling over half way through so i'm then forced to spend hours restoring the devices.
