I cant see them dropping below £200 on the o2 recycle, which is more than enough to cover the cost of a new contract on the iPhone 4.
Im not sure when you can pre-order with o2, but you should be able to pre-order with apple today.
I think the phone will be available as of this coming Monday, so I may look to sell my 3GS to apple perhaps today/tomorrow to cover costs.

Just a point regarding sneding your old iPhone in for recycling. With most of the sites, the price they offer you is valid for 30 days

just did the maths on me getting an iPhone 4
Current Contract 35 tariff
18m x £35 = £630
18m x £10 = £180 (insurance)
1 x iPhone £280
Total £1090
Simplicity equivalent tariff
12m x £20 = £240
12m x £10 = £120 (insurance)
1 x iPhone = £300 (Apple store tade in for old 32Gb 3GS)
Total £660
No brainer for me!

Just had a guy Call me from o2 to try and get me on contract, he said he shouldn't be telling me this but theyve had info it's goin to retail at £750 on Payg. Probs just bullshitting though cus I was I wasn't biteing!
sounds like a bellend if you ask me.
I would have asked to speak to his supervisor and then asked his boss why he's bullshitting.
Best of it was, he reminded me the call was recorded before he started, i remembered when i worked on the phone i would get get sacked for lieing to customers.
his price for the payg model, was, well pretty much spot on tbh
So its going to be £750 to buy, surely thats bollocks
16GB1
From £499
Thankyou
Edited coz I fucked up Still not £750 though

Surely you need to compare like with like You have not included a trade on on the contract and 18m vs 12m
Current Contract 35 tariff = 1090 - 230 = £860 = £47pm
Simplicity = £660 = £55pm
Your probably better going for the 18 month contract and then paying out of it when the iPhone 5 comes out.

Exactly right Rob.
Add another 6 months of usage plus insurance and the total of the Simplicity deal comes to £840.
If you took the 18 month contract you would also have your 3GS to trade in reducing the cost of that to £890 (assuming you get a measly £200 for it).
Not much in it at all.

true i could take the cost of trade in off the £1090 but i still have a an 18m contract, id rather have 12m contract.
Oh and i have 6 months left on my current contract so i have to take into account that also.

Also factor in that the new contract with o2 (for new phone) only gives 300 minutes for £35 / month.
The equiv simplicity is only £10 month.
So actually.
12m x £10 = £120
12m x £10 = £120 (insurance)
1 x iPhone4 16gb = £150 (trade in for old 16Gb 3GS) (£499 - £300)
Total £390
But what about data?
... The only problem is that I still have 6 months outstanding on o2, so £35 x 6 months.

^^ ofc you need the data package @ £19 pm.
This is what im going to do, trade in the 3GS 16GB (like today, enough time to clear for next week, use a crappy old phone for a few days), then take out a new contract next week.
