"Other markets will see similar overnight launches for online orders, with Apple having informed UK customers that orders would begin at 12: 01 AM British Summer Time and U.S. customers that orders would begin at 12: 01 AM Pacific Time."

Got myself a 5s sorted for tomorrow. Missus works in a phone shop and they have taken delivery of only 2 phones in 4 local shops!
Ones already set aside for my upgrade

Vodafone can GTF if they think I'm spending £10 a month more than anyone else tbh.

What colour to go for?
Obviously want the black/grey version but also don't want it to look terrible after a couple of weeks. Wonder if they've managed to properly fix the anodising?

I'm wondering if that's why they changed it from black (apparently blacks very hard to anodise properly).
According to this techCrunch:
"and the new space gray finish that I reviewed is more visually striking than the black it replaces. It also seems more resistant to wear, as the iPhone 5 in black scratched when I even thought about it encountering some grit, while the 5s finish remains impeccable after a week of use."

The silver wears it just isn't as noticeable.
Stock on the gold seems to be the lowest with some Apple stores in Aus not getting any at all. I'm tempted by black purely because the screen is better to use, wish they'd gone with black screen on the gold.

right, what I have found out so far relative to o2 (who I will be sticking with).
-pre orders from 8am tomorrow morning.
-NO stock in the shops
-Shops for ordering only, or save yourself the trouble and order online.

I've heard similar whispers from CW as well.
quote:
Everyone loves a new iPhone, so demand always outweighs supply. Because of this, you can order your iPhone 5s in store on launch day and collect it at a later date – you won’t be able to take one home straight away.
Bit of a joke imo, gone from being the only operator with iphones, to the only operator without iphones.

O2 are shit now, been like it for a while. They've also got rid of the Glasgow call centre and most, if not all of the other UK stuff and outsourced it all.

As for cargo be warehouse. Stores have only 1 or 2 in stock at the smaller branches around here. Some none.

How much are you guys paying? Am i likely to get any discount when upgrading from o2? Or will i be paying the same as someone just joining?
So far its £25 for the phone, £27 for the tarrif... £52 per month just seems like a lot for a bloody iphone..

With how expensive they're getting I won't be suprised if people start offering PCP deals on them
Walked past Arndale Apple store about 8:45, the queue was still around the block (all Pakistanis, not one white guy), asked the Apple guy what the chances were of getting a 5S if I queued, he said "Zero, they were all gone for 5 past". Which means they're all queuing for the 5C.
iPhone 5Couldn't get an S.

Looks like Vodafone are not giving any sort of offers for upgrades like they were last year meaning no 5S for me
From the numbers I did over 12 months the cheapest is buying outright and GiffGaff

^ If you want to upgrade every year it's always been the cheapest way. If you're happy to stay in contract for 2 years it's about the same cost.
That said GiffGaff have gone massively downhill over the last 4-5 years IMO, perhaps as they've become more popular and the infrastructure can't support it.

Last year upgrading was way cheaper than buying outright for me
Once I sold my old 4S my contract for a 64GB 5 only cost me £140 for 12 months AND and I ended up with a better phone 12 months on.
Even GiffGaff couldn't compete with that.
