Not a bit of a pointless exercise building this garage then? Also you pair clearly have too much money!

Yes and no
We're not really looking, but a house down the road from us has just come on the market
We're going to have a look at it.
It's a mammoth project, but could be amazing and a long term investment.
We've considered selling our place without the garage since the house is just 10 doors down!

its the same street so same period (1905 or so)
Its all 3 floors and potentially 8 bedrooms if needed... or 3 public rooms, large study and 5 bedrooms.
You need to look beyond the current decor
Just look at the room sizes.... Bedroom 2 is 7.5m by 4.5m - Thats HUGE!

Does look huge, although I think those miniature radiators help with that effect If you got this one could you sell the land with the garage on to yourself at the new property before selling the old place?

We can sell our place now without the garage...just split it off the land certificate and get it a certificate of its own.
I don't know how much that would affect the value of the flat though. If it's not by a huge amount, then yeah, we'd do it.
but that's only if we got this place down the road...if we bought a house 20 minutes away it wouldnt really be something I'd consider. But we're not actively looking for a house, this one just caught our eye

Wow the size of the rooms in that other place Not sure how you'd sort power etc to the garage if you didn't own the house, seems a shame considering all the effort you've put into this place to move on, but I suppose if you can see the potential in this place it could pay dividends. Is there any land with this one
I wonder how much value the garage will have added to your current place?

maybe 20K....
I'd hope for 300+ for our 2 bed flat, which will actually be a loss for us :S
We paid 280k at the height of the market in summer 2007
We've spent prob 40k+ on doing the place up
