Rooms were nice but the layout wasnt great
Garden wasn't that big either
Not somewhere I could see myself long-term and it would need to be long-term with all the work that is needed

Fair enough. I presume buying it aswell as living in your current place to do it up & sell is out the question as that will be way out of budget?

Its not the living in it that would be the problem. Id just didnt 'feel right' when we were in it. Some rooms were perfect but others just didnt fit the bill.
The general layout was a bit bizzare in my opinion.
Huge hall way with lounge on the 1st left, dining room 2nd left then down a small flight of stairs in to the kitchen.... from the kitchen it was into the utility room, toilet and pantry (all of which had badly settled).
Up stairs - bedroom and bathroom (mezzanine floor)
Up more stairs to 3 bedrooms - 2 HUGE, 1 normal by todays standards.
Up a steep flight of stairs and 2 further bedrooms and a large dressing room off one.
There is lots of potential for the house, and potential for profit but we didnt see it as a house we'd live in for a while.
The garden was a bit dissapointing but it did have an ace garage - about 5m wide by 9m long i think
It had issues too - dry rot, wood worn, settlement in extension, roof sagging by extension, concrete shed that would need blitzed.
We met some friends when viewing and more are going today - so it wont be around for long i think. Its cheap!

shoulda put the lights on the sloped part of the ceiling that way when the ramp goes in you wont have ant broken bulbs lol and also if your painting the block inside do it with masonary paint don't want no flakey paint

jungle - I'm thinking the tubes lights will be moved or even replaced with halogen downlighters
masonary paint will be used, after brickwork is sealed first. Was going to board the walls too but prob wont as it'll look ok with white painted bricks.

I bought a 10 litre tub of the cheapest paint in Homebase for about 7 quid and stuck down a base coat with that as it is difficult to cover the bricks to start with, then bought a tub of white masonry for the next coat or two.
The floor paint was about 40 quid for 5 litres, used just over half a tin (two coats I think?), rest will see me another coat at least when it needs doing again.
Looks great already though!

are you sealing up the floor aswell?
if so after walls are painted you should ping a line say a brick up from the floor and coat it in the same stuff you do the floor in, i allways do that when folk want garages painted it looks more thaught about if you know what i mean? will stop oil/anti freeze ect soaking into the floor and looking skabby

Id advise against halogen downlighters in a garage, not a nice light for working on cars in and will be a ball ache changing lamps all the time, fluo tubes last ages!

Garage is looking huge now and is a pefect size to make it look amazing. If you are after a floor i have been searching for months and finally found a very decent quality pvc one at a very decent price, u2u me if and when you are wanting one in

thats all the plasterboard on the roof taped and ready for filling now.
Had to go rake for steps that were big enough to reach the bloody roof! (and i'm not a midget!! 6'2")
Floor is nearly dry now - got a dehumidifier on 24/7 just now, and will prob keep it in there once the cars are in
