how the hell have people got charges for over £1k?
I thought mine was alot of £400, but 1k, @ £28 a time, is 1 a month for 3 years nearly

Damn, I put all my statements in the bin!! Can you request the statements from the past say 4-5 years? I must be owed a bit as one time i got fined and then got fined for the fine as there was no money to pay either of them!! How rubbish is that!

I got £1500 back from 6 years worth of charges over 3 accounts (I was a skint pikey student )

I ve just done this with HSBC claiming £150 incuded the statments and highlighted the charges. They wrote back saying they need to know when the charges were made and how much.

I have checked mine it works out as a projected £2200 for 6 years.
Printed half off and sorted letter it's going in post tomorrow
New car on the cards early if I get this

Does this mean you could withdraw all your money from your account, write out a load of cheques, when they bounce claim the money back

One of my mates got £750 back from HSBC. He got another £100 worth of charges between sending the two letters off though, muppet.

just had a letter from lloyds saying there charges are acceptable as they have to make a decision there and then whether to let me go overdrawn and charge me or cancel the payment and charge me...
says ican get in contact again before the 4/4/07 so i think im going tell them ill close the account
has anyone else had this type of letter through???
or got any advice??

So what they are basically saying is they make a decision which has the same outcome. So you get charged either way.

I dont agree with all this claiming back charges for going over drawn/cheques bouncing etc. If the above happen then you are spending money you dont have so why not be punished for it.
If you cant afford something, dont buy it. Live to your means.

the question is how much your charged.
Your not allowed to impose penalty charges, thats illegal, they are only allowed to charge you to cover their extra costs...which isnt £40 or whatever!
