ye they can be a bit boring, r-factor is quite good, basically an open source project where people create tracks and series to race in all sorts basically, even a 106 rallye/Gti mod being created, hundreds of tracks also.
its abit shit physics wise tho.

Depends what mod you play I suppose, and the fact its created by the same people who worked on F1 challenge doesnt help as it feels too similar to the older games

yeh I didn't really enjoy R-factor when i played it...
Also I don't like how everyone seems to be playing with cars / tracks you've not got. So you go spend all day downloading other cars and tracks... then you realise everyone's still playing with other tracks or cars, as you've downloaded the slightly wrong version of them
Then some cars are like made to a good quality and some are made to a shit quality.

played trial of lfs again
can you adjust the steering wheel sensitivity at all? small movements make it go wild, the car must have the most direct steering in the world lol

Let me guess steve your playing it on keyboard? / mouse
It's shit without the wheel.
The game matches my exact movements with my wheel steve
I can't really drive with mouse / keyboard as it's fucking hard to balance the car... plus I need pedals to balance the power.
Steve just get a Cheap 'Driving Force Pro' and buy the full S2 version!
I use 'Driving Force Pro' Wheel and Pedals.
Pretty good, had 900 degree movement and can be bought fairly cheap now.
You need a Wheel with Force Feedback and Pedals to get the most out of it.
Chris uses the G25! I'm jealous

Thing is it's not only cosmetics either... Ok so the G25 has a clutch. But both have good force feedback and can rotate further than most wheels (rather than being 270 degrees - are like 900) - but the G25 also spins back further. So say you do drifting, you can correct a lot easier / and spin the wheel back easier.
where as the DFP the force feedback turns slower so you have to force the wheel back against the feedback sometimes.
I can't stand driving without force feedback tho ... as it just feels alien / detached... you can turn the wheel as fast as you like, but boring

yeh you can change sensativity... what wheel you using?
Sounds like you've got the rotation settings at the wrong amount.
Also you want it linear, so it doesn't turn in quick and then slow / visa versa.
The settings may also be relevant outside of LFS (in your wheel configuration / controller config).
Do a search in the forum's on your type of wheel and people's setup up options.
From what your saying tho it sounds like the wheel rotation doesn't match. So your turning your wheel a little bit, and the wheel in game is whizzzzzing round lots.
in mine, when I turn the wheel, the screen wheel matches what I'm doing with my wheel.

Though having your wheel setup wrong / settings wrong can make a dramatic difference.
On my PC I have it setup perfectly! - I tried setting the wheel up on my laptop (working from default not knowing the settings on my PC) and couldn't get it to work at all as well... Just couldn't remember the settings, and so it just wasn't letting me control the car as well.

I just hate the 'woman' (freak) who does the voice over on that! takes it far too seriously, otherwise it'd be quite a good idea. Firstly don't name the corners after real corners, then don't act / commentate like it's real! as it isn't...
... but it's a good idea.
