ive had parallels 8 running windows 8 on osx 10.8, ran spot on unless youve gt hot corners because theres some windows menu in the corner, that confused me

I really want to upgrade my PC. I have no pressing need, just want to play with it!
However...
I'm currently running Windows 7 32bit. My system supports 64bit. Obviously I'd want the 64bit version of Windows 8 but I'm led to believe there's difficulty going from Win7 32 to Win8 64. Can anyone shed light?

I dont think youd want to upgrade 32bit to 64bit.
Personally, it wants to be a nice clean install, atleast you know everything is neat and tidy with no left over files.

Just updated myself. starting to come round to it already, but will be a lot better once I have all my shortcuts/tiles properly setup.
Anyone know why if I use the Internet Explorer App from the 'metro icons' I get some shitty dumbed down version, yet if I open the icon from the task bar I get the full IE10.
any easy way to conver the metro app to full IE10?

I've literally just bought my new laptop with 7 64bit, which I hate, it's crap compared to XP (I feel old  )
I cant find on the M$ site a link to a free trial of 8? Anyone know if that exists?

You should be entitled to a free upgrade! Most places offer it
An operating system isn't something you would generally 'trial' and decide if you want it or not, once your in your committed!

Well apparently I can get it for £15 instead of £25 although I'm struggling at the moment to find the link I had for that as well, but I cant be arsed with installing it all and then if its shit reverting back to 7 (which is crap anyway)

Im gonna be honest, since installing it today, I'd have to agree with most peoples opinions here.
Its COMPLETELY different, very odd at first, but given time im starting to come round to it and may consider installing it at work in the coming weeks.
Ive downloaded and installed a few apps from the app store and nearly have everything how I want it.

I might just do it tbh, you reckon I can be even cheekier and buy it in USD for £9.30 and it will work alright, just change the language and keyboard settings at a later date?

I think I will be getting one of the new Lumia Windows phones with work in the next couple weeks. Will see how I get on with the metro styling
