Use the best tool for your job and efficiency, be it OSX, Windows or Linux
Just note of any budget/limits in place if you're allowed to purchase your own hardware - obviously 'pcs' are still better in terms of spec/performance vs cost.

Think the free .1 revision upgrade is in response to Windows 8.1?
I doubt it to be honest. The updates have been getting cheaper and cheaper over time and probably don't bring in that much revenue in comparison to the other things going on.
Apple have always subsidised the OS against the hardware; Microsoft, primarily being a software-house, can't obviously do that.
Be interesting to see if Apple charge for the next release though.

They've shot themselves well and truly in the foot with the Mac Pro with it having no expansion slots.

Why would they charge for the next release or any future releases? They've set the precident now, they'll just make their hardware more expensive instead.

Highest PPI in any tablet on the market?
I'm pretty sure they would have shouted about that it if was.

Depends if the next release will be a major or minor, ie - 11 vs 10.10. And making the hardware more expensive could backfire on them.

yeah i can see 10.10 being free, 11 being paid for then 11.1 free etc. either that or they're just making that much money from hardware now they can afford to give away software.

Personally i've got a few bits of Digidesign gear that won't work but that's nothing compared a couple of guys i know that own a visual/audio production company. They were going to refresh all their MP's (around 20 odd) but now getting rid of Apple completely and heading to HP because it isn't financially viable to replace (or re-buy updated models of) tens of thousands of pounds worth of gear - mostly Avid/Digidesign, AJA + various other interfaces, DSP processing and raid cards.
Few mates who work in a few of the studios in London have also mentioned something similar and it's the same if you read a few of the big audio forums/boards, lot of people complaining and looking at alternatives (Hackintosh's are now getting popular).
Professionals need configurable workstations and Apple hasn't delivered that, which has left a lot of people/companies in the lurch and ultimately pushing them towards other vendors/solutions.

He is trying to hint what is roumered that they will do a bigger iPad I am guessing.
Depending on the price I can see it having a place as there are so many specific business applications that have now been developed where a slightly larger lablet would not hurt.
The biggest problem would be how to do the resolutions as you would then need to introduce another larger one.

Double the resolution of the retina iPad with slightly larger screen = 4K = iPad Pro.

Yeah I guess you're right, maybe they'll release a premium model and call it the iPad Shuffle.

As Lee has already pointed out, the mini isn't in the MacBook lineup and as I've pointed out, there's really no pattern to how Apple name their devices (iPhone 5 anyone?).
Is this rumour about an iPad pro based on anything other than the fact that the new one is called air?
