Northern electric charge £1500 a joint (or so I've been told I've never actually saw the invoice)

No. We are going to try and argue it's a random cable that's not supplying anyone. I'm sure the guy who build a garage next door must of gone through it as its heading in that direction

Isn't it quite clear cut you have gone through it? If it's a cable owned by the grid your fucked. Did no one think of used a cat scanner before piling holes?

The cable looks intact still maybe we could argue that the metal water pipe clipped it when it was chewed up by the auger

The garage is being built on the end of a cul-de sac in line with the road and a garage next door. We are well clear on the housing line and path line

No pics I'm staying well clear

Almost done. Electrics capped just a unknown cable with no load.
Cup of tea for the digger guy and he opened up the other end of the hole for the water pipe
Just waiting on plumber now but at least I know services are just below the side of the garage just waiting to be tapped into

It did give of some pretty loud bangs.

Got a letter through from UK power networks basically asking who damaged the cable and who wants to pay. No mention of costs. After doing a quick search looks like we will have to pay

Almost ready for concrete. First up the claymaster polystyrene

Then today the first of two layers of reinforcing mesh

But they were heavy and difficult to get over the piles

Concrete poured today. Booked for 1 the first cemex truck arrives at 2:30 dumps off 6m3 then had to wait another our for the final 3m3.
Got it leveled, tamped, and first float over the it chucked it down for half an our. We got it covered but now have to do the final floats in the dark

Ramp done up to the slab

Used an engine crane to plant the tree in the corner

Just got the first quote to do the brick work
£2800 seems a bit steep that doesn't include the bricks

Contemplating building a second garage at my house in the near future and knocking the current garage through to increase our living space.

Mine will probably be £15k but I'm just paying as I go doing as much of it myself. The pile foundations cost £4k so I guess normal foundations would be a lot cheaper

Someone I know just built a 4m wide by 7m long garage out of breeze block with pitches flat roof and roller shutter door and his bill is at 5k. It has a pit too.
