Assuming you've just put a new microsim in, it will take a few hours (maybe longer) for the sim to activate.
Mine is currently the same... (assuming it says no service)

the yellow tinge is aparently releated to the adhesive used to bond the glass to the screen, which hasnt properly evapourated due to the extremly quick shipping, from what ive read it does evaporate after a few hours use and isnt common to all phones.

I had a play with one in the apple store in MK earlier and wasn't all that impressed tbh.
The camera looks like a really worthwhile upgrade and the screen was certainly sharper than the ipod touch that I have now, but I wasn't blown away by it.
Personally I wouldn't be desperate to upgrade from a 3GS, certainly not enough to pay £500 for it outright.

Agree with you there. From the 3G is it a big step up but from the 3GS its a much smaller step.

I seen a guy with an iphone 4 tshirt on when I was coming home from work.
I was about to laugh when I realised he had a walking stick, which for some reason meant I felt sorry for him instead

Tshirt
The queue was just silly when I went in there. I was actually looking at an ipad so just walked around the queue to get into the store, but there must've been 50/60 people there at least.
This was 3pm. Dread to think what it was like this morning

Looks like the reception problem is NOT due to the new phone. I have just recreated it on a 3GS. Holding the phone caused it to go from 5-3 bars and then it went back up again when I put it down.
Video of it on a 3GS running iOS4 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLMXGZ-rjQQ

That's a separate issue is it not.
The phone is misrepresenting the signal in the displayed bars, the iphone 4 is dropping calls as well as that.
