Apparently steve jobs is now saying 'stay tuned... ' announcement coming soon.
I personally think it's software related, as my phone never did it (3gs) but now its got ios4 it does it slightly.

We'll be getting iOS4.0.1 within a week I'd say. Will be for 'reception problems' but read that as 'block jailbreak exploits' like usual.

why do you say that? if you watch the video of the designing of the iphone4 they make out its strong as ferk, comparable to saphire crystal and 30 times harder then plastic

thats the difference between promo video and real life. Its actually VERY fragile. It takes the smallest drop to potentially shash the glass to bits

In the promo they show a three point bending test. It demonstrates a high yield strength. That's pretty meaningless if you don't want it to shatter when dropped. Also, saying that a material is harder than sapphire crystal is all well and good because no one really knows anything about that material. It's often used to make blades to scratch fibre optic strands when they're cleaved as it's cheaper than diamond. But both diamond and sapphire are very prone to chipping.
The design still seems strange to me. (But I'll still buy one  )
