this is because COD etc are ported games from the 360 which has a better GPU. need a PS3 exclusive game to comapre, like motorstorm

a game like F1 wont be so demanding, generally driving games can have a lot of time spent on them graphically, light reflections etc, compare F1 to Forza 2, thats a fair comparison, FPS generally are more demanding so whatever has the faster GPU will be at an advantage with those

Im not really into all this gaming lark but its a totally differant world from the PS2. Never used a 360 so can't really comment on how good they are

Im happy with mine anyway

yeah no doubt if your not used to next gen consoles you will be blown away, i was with the 360.

Its when your used to something so similar you start picking at things

Last time i looked it was just rumour that it was coming out for xbox... no matter what it comes out for it looks outstanding but they still havent made one that beats the first MGS imo

her arguemts are stupid. she awarded the PS3 points for everything built in, IMO the ability to pick and choose my accesories is a bonus for the 360

With the flops rating of the Cell I'm wondering if Sony are just going along with the (inevitable) blurring of the line between dedicated CPU and GPU. Maybe the PS3 just does more in the main CPU to make up for it.

The online download speed (for demos etc) has been fine for me -- took just under 10 minutes to get a 700mb demo.

PS: Take a look at IBM's 1080p real time rendering demo on a PS3 in Linux (where the RSX is not available)

To be honest, the GPUS in both the Xbox 360 and PS3 probabaly dont have much between them. The Nvidia RSX (G70) in the PS3 and the effective ATi R500 in the Xbox 360 are just based on the two pc graphics cards that were going head to head at the same time, with nearly the same performance. I see little reason as to why things much be much different in the consoles really. The R500 has the advantage of EDRAM but its all swings and roundabouts really.

Theres one key point to remember here. Specs on paper DO NOT equal real world performance figures.
