If you've got Cydia on there then there's no need to change anything as you've got what you need.

It let's you install apps that haven't been approved by Apple from a different source other than the App Store. Can be useful as there are lots of customisations out there like new themes and useful apps like wifi sync that let's you sync your phone over the network.

I have, cydia is next to useless as most of the themes etc on there are not for the lastest OS, also have installous which is pretty good, a few dead links but can't complain for free.

If you jailbreak iPhone 4, then can you get all apps free? Ie the tom-tom app?

Its a bit of a disgrace that they have not released the patch on all platform.
They are sayin "Go and jailbreak as its the only way to get fixes for our bugs"

Next you'll be complaining that MS have stopped supporting windows 2000.

As 4.0.2 is so new I doubt it'll be pre-installed, so you should be able to jailbreak it.
If not, you'll have to wait for the next software update/jailbreak.
Just a guess.

Not quite a fair comparison. Apple stopping security patching after 3 years, Microsoft stopping security patching Windows 2000 after 10 and a half years.

They can't void your warranty for it in America and they'd have a hard time here.

Tell that someone they are wrong.
Apple are very careful about thier wording regarding jailbreaking. It 'may' invalidate your warranty i.e. if you install a load of jailbreak software they won't help you if its scewed up the software but if its a hardware fault you still would be covered..which means you are covered as you can always revert to non-jailbreak if you need to.
Much in the same way if you replace your windcreen wipers on a car with non-standard they can't say "Oh well your warranty has been void."
