I'm just at the bit where you push the truck.
I really do think it's a bit crap. Also I suck at it.

Don't spoil the story, it's about the most enjoyable part of the game.

It just seems that the criticisms revolve around it being a bit slower paced than the norm, and more of a puzzler than a shooter.
I think it's refreshing personally

Seeing as I recently played (and very much enjoyed) Unfinished Swan, which is certainly less fast paced than Last of Us, I'll not say this is my main gripe.
I simply don't enjoy the dynamics of the game. I think sneaking around becomes tedious and minor fuck ups can result in redoing very large areas. Slowly.
Like I said earlier, I suck at it, so I seem to redo every section 3-6 times before finding a safe way through.
Simply put, there's nothing enjoyable about anything in this game for me. I'm not saying it's bad, just that I don't like it at all.
The characters are the best I've seen in any game, however.

Having read your control/firing comments on the previous page it reminds me of when I first started playing Uncharted and RE2. As in the controls are a bit backwards due to the 3td person until you get used to it.
Still debating whether to get it.

I always liked Uncharted's controls. Don't recall finding the hard to adjust to.
LoU is probably realistic in the sense that there's not even a hint of aim assist, the guns sway A LOT (which can later be leveled up) and the enemies jerk around all over the place.
Combine this with having to aim with a thumb stick and limited supplies of ammo and you're looking at a lot of do-overs.

Fair enough, I've not played The Unfinished Swan yet.
I agree there's an element of trial and error, I've replayed sections 10 times or more if I get spotted or I think I've used too much ammo. i can't say I found it particularly frustrating, though.
I think the differing tactics that need to be used when faced with a roomful of runners and clickers, versus a room of humans make the combat feel really really diverse and interesting.
The game is certainly slow to start, I wasn't totally won over till you get to Pittsburgh (which is just ahead of the truck-pushing part)
The game to me feels like Uncharted 2 mixed with Arkham Asylum, two games I love.

I think the key is to play it and try not to do it again jnless you die obviously, that way your not getting bored by redoing it but you are having to deal with the choices you make.
People get too strung up on keeping ammo, if you never use it whats the point.

I didn't keep any ammo, just went mad if i got in a gun fight. Paid the price later in most cases.
Also, i didn;t use the bow till late on in the game and then realized is a silent way of killing, which would have made the game a lot easier if i'd have known sooner
You had a go on the online yet chris?
