Virtually all the parts have now been leaked.
Retina screen
1080p camera
Siri support
..
theres still no CPU confirmation or LTE confirmation or storage sizes etc

There "no" confirmation about anything and there won't be till release.
I personally think the A5X will be whats used.

If it's got the decent resolution screen I've been asking for all along(that nobody else has wanted, next best thing since sliced bread when it has one etc) I think I'll buy one.

The current iPad 2 screen is more than perfect for the job, your just a moaning old git that deep down will never be satisfied with anything in life. FACT

It's not and as sure as shite it'll be what everyone wanted if apple decide it needs one.

It is though! you are the only person I know of that complains about the screen quality. Not everyone inserts there ePenis into resolutions like you.
You went on and on about the iPhone screen not being good enough as it wasnt 1080 yet YOU ended up buying one becasue you actually new it was very good yet you will never admit to it

I never complained about the screen quality, the quality is brilliant, it's just not high enough resolution.
I got an iPhone because it's one of the best phones out, the alternative was a Nexus S which is just too big for me, the screen is a compromise I was willing to make, the 5 will definitely have a higher res screen.
I'm not sure where the moaning and epenis come into this, a higher res screen would be better, there are very few, if any, downfalls to it, blind and ignorant people can have everything looking like it does just now, just sharper, while those of us who want more on screen are also kept happy.

but would you not agree for 99% of the general public the screen is perfectly acceptable as it is?
A higher res screen I will be happy with, and still buy one but my point is if they choose to stick with the same screen it would not bother me in the slightest.

They won't do that. Although they'll still sell every last one, they have to try and at least keep up with the game, there will be loads of tablets with higher res screen before they can release the 2013 model.
The general public are complete idiots, if apple told them a 4 pixel screen was the next big thing they'd buy it, that doesn't mean it's ok.

I thought my iPad2 screen was great. I only noticed a difference when using my iP4 a lot then picking up the iPad, even then it was only minimal. I'd be suprised if they increase the Res on the iPhone 5, you can only just click links without zooming in as it is.
Retina screens are overkill IMO but I'm not going to moan if Apple want to use them in their products.

This is part of the problem, higher resolution does not mean everything has to be smaller, it just means it can be for people who want more on screen.

If you have higher resolution you'll have to zoom in and out more won't you? Looks sexy mind.

The best way to think of a retina display is a display with sub-pixel rendering on steroids.

If they implemented a default zoom level like everything else on the planet that has a browser you could set it at what suited you best

A higher resolution would mean I'd have to zoom to click links.
If they introduced a feature that let you set the zoom level and I set it so links are the same size as they are now I'd have to move around the screen more.

No it wouldn't, the way stuff is rendered on a retina display means that the text stays the same height and just becomes smoother. Take a look at an iPhone 3G and an iPhone 4 - the icons and text are the same size on both displays, it's just a lot smoother and crisper on the iPhone 4.
This is the difference between image size and image resolution.

Website developers can set a default zoom level for their pages if they want to. Bit I don't think this is what John's talking about as it still leaves the user no option.

This is what apple have to deal with I suppose.
People who have a clue are probably a very small percentage of the customer base.

Which is what Nismo said, for 99% of people the screen is perfectly fine.

I disagree. 99% of people don't know any better, that doesn't mean it's fine.
It's a good thing for the spec list and they can market it as best thing ever.
A default zoom level, ie you could make everything look exactly like it does just now, everything appears the same size, I could have loads of small stuff.
At first I would think that's really simple and a glaring omission, after this thread I can see where they are coming from, a slider would be too complicated for that 99% it seems.
As I've been saying all along, if it does have a higher res screen you'll all be straight in here saying how good it is and make up some other excuse about saying it wasn't.

I got lost when you said higher res means you're able to have more on the screen but everything will still be the same size.
