We've started taking the paint off the mantelpiece.....it looks like slate (although I said it looked like marble). I guess we'll soon see once we get some more of the paint off.
The bathroom is going....the sink is cracked and the bath is pretty defunked. It needs re-enameled and it looks like the previous owner has just painted it
We've got our new bathroom ready to go in, just waiting on the plumber

Not cheap though....if you think that we've got 3 or 4 sockets and a light switch in that one room to be replaced....so about £40-50 for just one room! Doh
have a look at screw-fix
got a load of brushed alluminum efforts out there for my gaff. quite cheap compared to most places imo.

ripped the fireplace (70's) out in the back living room.... burst a pipe in the process.
The orig fire place is about 4.5ft high, and the same wide..... BIG!
We are now planning that room to be a bedroom with a stove in it
Hall has had a quick coat of paint, floors varnished and a new dado rail fitted.
front door has been painted gloss black, with new letter box and cleaned up brass work. Fee will need to do the facings and fit the new bell
Coal shed has been emptied and rendering removed. Going to convert that to a wash house type room to hold the gas boiler and washing machine for now.

Just out of interest did you tell him to put the rads there
or is that just were he chose to put them?

we decided where they were going...behind the doors so they are out of the way and dont take up any wall space that could be used

Ohhh right
Technically they would be better under the windows,
Your happy is the main thing though as the gains would be marginal
Oh and the ladders in the boiler pics
I SOOOOO want some of those, our Joiner has them

surely then the heat would just rise and escape out the windows
We were meant to be getting one under the living room window as well, but decided against it

The heat rises from the rad then the cold air from the windows pull it back down and circulate the heat back into the room
you wont see much of a gain though TBH

.... and the widows are quite low and narrow in most rooms... we'd have to fit very odd sized rads to get away with that
