I used to have songs as my alarm on one of my old phones, but all it does is make you hate the song, everytime you listen to it, it just reminds of being woke up at the crack of dawn.

So far I've managed to discover 2 out of the alleged 200 new features of iOS 6:
An animated gooey refresh icon in the Mail app and a considerably worse Maps application. Winner.

iMap app looks great - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19659736
No doubt Apple will be quickly working on fixing it but it'll be interesting to see if Google release a maps app for iOS and/or if Apple will allow it on their store.

They wont have to. maps.google.com works perfectly as a web app. No need for a dedicated app at all.

They submitted a maps app ages ago, Apple have been sitting on it. They're hoping to have it in the store for christmas. That said Apple are well within their right to reject it under the rules of 'duplicating functionality' but I wouldn't like to see the shit storm that would cause.

There's apparently a GMaps app awaiting approval. One of the first T&C's you agree to when submitting is that your app doesn't replicate an existing Apple product already on the phone so it will be interesting to see what happens.

There should be a similar rule for replicating posts on this forum

Having used the TomTom iPhone app for a two week road trip in the US I can safely say that the sales numbers tell nothing, absolutely nothing at all, about the quality of their maps and software.

They have allowed other browsers, though, as well as competitors to iMessage, so can't see them disallowing gMaps.
Either way, as stated, unless they block it from Safari, I'll just continue to use the Google web app and ignore Apple maps.

My folder of unused original apps, that can't be deleted is getting larger with each new update.

Give it another 12 months of crowd sourcing and Apple maps will be awesome. I definately prefer the cartogography over gmaps and the 3D in the areas that have it(without clouds ) is incredibly well done. I was hovering backwards and forwards over the London Eye last night and it felt as though it was coming out the screen.
If you think its bad now you should have seen it in beta 1

I think so. Google earth looks like Apple maps in 3D mode in the areas that haven't been done.

That would be fine if it was 2006. Replacing probably the best mapping system ever with some beta maps on your 'most advanced operating system' doesn't really cut it now.
If they wanted to replace google they should have had something much better.
