Where are the solicitors up to?
If its only being valued on the 16th, I think its unlikely you'll be completed 2 weeks later (based upon you saying 8 weeks from start to finish)......

Solicitors on Friday received all the paperwork from the vendors solicitors. They're starting everything this week. I should have stuff to read, sign etc by the end of the week.
I have said preferred exchange date is 30th May so they're working towards that. Will also mean we don't get stung with the large first payment including the months prior interest.
Santander are notoriously slow to instruct valuation survey but apparently super quick to offer.
Reckon if they offer on the 23rd it will complete in 7 days?!

Unlikely perhaps, but not impossible. You will need to transfer funds to your solicitor which depending on the amount could be instant or could take a day or two. The bank would also need a little notice to make sure the funds are available for your draw-down which again may take a little longer.
I would think a fortnight would be more realistic unless you are mega mega keen and your solicitor doesn't mind the hassle.....

Due to small desposit it looks like including fees it will be less than £10k which is the daily/single limit for Barclays.
Fingers crossed!

Ours are approx £2600 inc. VAT. That includes £1400 stamp duty.
Solicitors fee is generally speaking £500 + VAT from quotes we got. Everything else is searches, fees and other stuff that the government benefits from. Bastards

Well weekend, so doubt that. This is obviously for Santander to offer the mortgage.
IFA said that he will get notification before we receive anything in the post.
Fingers crossed indeed.
Question, to put it out there. House is circa 1910's, mid-terraced 2 up 2 down. Mate next door bought his in October, no problems on the building survey. Ours was purchased last 2 years ago following it being a cannabis factory. Property been extensively refurbished. Including new floors.
Reckon I still need to do a HomeBuyer or Building Survey?

We applied for our mortgage on 4th April. Santander have been extremely slow. Offering the best Help to Buy Mortgage Guarantee product and what with MMR, they can't cope.

Aye he is. All a bit late to pull out mind.
My mate has his mortgage with Santander and they requested a HomeBuyer following Valuation survey.

Serious? So you had to pay £300 odd for valuation then £600 for homebuyers? They're having you over if that's the case
I had the choice, homebuyers it seemed like you weren't getting much for double the money, just checking for damp really

Fortunately I'm getting a free valuation and surveyor locally does HomeBuyer for £245 which was accepted by Santander!

Homebuyers are handy if you don't know anything about buildings, but in reality don't tell you much more than a good look around with a switched on pair of eyes.

Received information from the solicitors today like searches, building regs info etc etc.
Contract sent back today. They received faxed copy of Mortgage Offer today, providing they receive it printed by Thursday, we will be completing Friday 30th!
Just need to get money out of Nationwide Save to Buy account. Didn't want to until I knew we had the mortgage. Bloomin' nazi's won't let me do it online.

Complete.
They will receive our Contracts tomorrow so could exchange this week.
The seller didn't complete the Contents & Fixtures Form properly so the kitchen fixtures need clarifying (ticked Fitted but not whether they are Included) and also there is a £380 charge on the property which needs sorting.
Fingers crossed!
