I'd advise people to wait a little longer on a better 4.2 jb the redsn0w one has been okay for me
For some ghey reason, I can't jailbreak my 3GS with RedSn0w.
It goes thru it all but when the phone reboots, I'm not sure if its actually jailbroken and Cydia doesn't work. The icon isn't quite there, tis just a blank icon and it won't open but says Cydia below it.
Once you've jailbroken it and installed Cydia you need to jailbreak it again, but this time only tick the tether option. Once it reboots with the pineapple logo you will be able to use shitty Cydia
Tried it, Cydia still did the same thing.
I'm waiting for a stable untethered jailbreak now.
That's odd.
I installed Cydia and Jailbroke mine without problem, but Cydia wouldn't complete the downloading packages cycle when it first starts up. I could cancel it and use it, just thought it was an awful piece of software.
I may try again with the untethered version when it's properly released. So many things I want to tweak on the phone.

Try it again trick I found was to put device inton dfu mode at the point where it tells you to make sure it is off, it's basically the same process but you know for sure your getting dfu not recovery mode. Instructions on YouTube

Just done mine again using Redsn0w.
I'm gonna live with a tethered one until the untethered is release next month (hopefully).
This time I let Cydia cycle properly using wifi and it was fine!

Just jailbroken mine again. Seems to have worked this time, no idea why it didn't work the first three times but oh well.

Is it worth jailbreaking your phone?

I'd say so.
No more paying for apps is the best reason for me.

Apple are apparently releasing iOS 4.3 in March so this jailbreak will be short lived imo
