surely on a screen the sizoe of an iphone (granted re the ipad) it wont be visibly worse?
john is just doing his iphone hating like normal mate. just ignore him. his replies are becoming robotic.
Although Nic is trolling, he doesn't understand.
It's not the resolution, it just plays it back at 1 frame a second.

If you've tried with what I'm talking about and it works fine then well done.
Since you don't know though you'd be just as well going back to replying to all my posts.

Im sure the iPad app is the same, seems to struggle on a lot of vids and cant play MKV
The statements from me and Jamie explain the whole issue, wasn't being arrogant at all, I stated a fact then you started your usual bullshit.
Funny sometimes, boring most others.

I tried VLC with a 720p MKV rip of a TV program - got a message saying the iPhone is probably too slow. It was too slow.
Played the same TV show but the HDTV XviD rip - no problems.
No need for 720p on a 3.4inch 320x480 screen though - can't see it making a massive, if any, difference.

i have to be honest, i dont fully udnerstand but i played a few avi files last night (not 720p or anything, just satndard 600MBish avi's form XviD) and they looked fine on there, sound and picture match, pic quality is good and all seemed grand

4 is 960x640.
It's more a case of being able to play without converting than the actual resolution though.

I can see where John is coming from, it's a bit of an arseache if all you download/rip is HD material as it means you have to either convert the video or download SD versions (in Divx/Xvid etc) before you can play it on the iPhone 4.
Does the iPhone 4 offer a hardware decoder for video?

John can you troubleshoot my iPhone for me?
It seems to be receiving messages after I've sent them, and sometimes it rings off its own accord.
Should I be worried? Have you heard of this before?

It does Dom, that's really why I get a bit annoyed about it, apple don't give developers access to it though afaik.

On another note, you can buy the white glass off eBay with the digitiser and ive read a guide on how to replace the front and rear glass, doesn't look too hard
